🏡 “The House That Raised Me”
I drove past my childhood home today — the little white house at the end of the street with the peeling blue shutters. I wasn’t planning to stop. I just wanted to see it… one more time.

But when I parked across the road, I couldn’t help it — the tears came before I could blink them away.

It’s funny how walls and windows can hold so much of who you used to be.
That old oak tree in the front yard — it still leans slightly to the left, just like when Dad built my first swing on its branch. The porch steps still creak in the same spot where Mom used to sit every evening, waiting for me to come home before dark.

The window of my old room is still there too. Behind that glass, I dreamed about growing up, about becoming someone important. I remember pressing my forehead to that window during summer storms, listening to the rain and thinking the world felt so big, so far away.

Now, standing outside as an adult, the world doesn’t feel as big — but that house still feels like home.
Even though I don’t live there anymore, it still carries the echo of laughter, burnt toast on Sunday mornings, and my parents’ soft voices calling me in for dinner.

I didn’t go inside. I didn’t need to.
Some homes don’t need doors to welcome you back — they live quietly inside your heart, carrying every version of who you’ve ever been.

💛 Moral:
We leave many houses in life, but the one that raised us never truly leaves us.
It holds the roots of our laughter, the echo of our childhood, and the love that shaped who we are.
