This Friday the 13th there is nothing scary here. Just amazing steps forward. In ABA therapy every new skill, every attempt, and every success matters. What may seem like a small step today can become a huge milestone tomorrow.

Did you know March is National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month? 🧡

This observance was established in 1987 by President Ronald Reagan to promote awareness, inclusion, and opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities to live, work, and participate fully in their communities.

Autism Spectrum Disorder is one type of developmental disability that can affect communication, social interaction, and behavior. According to the CDC, about 1 in 31 children in the United States is diagnosed with autism.

Evidence-based services such as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy help individuals build communication, social, and daily living skills that support independence and confidence.

This month reminds us of the importance of creating supportive and inclusive communities where every individual has the opportunity to thrive.

Yesterday, Our very own Scott Lepley, Chief Director of Behavioral Developmental Services, spoke to a Human Ecology class at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston. 🐾
❤️💙

Scott talked with students about what Applied Behavior Analysis, or ABA therapy, looks like in everyday life. He shared how ABA therapy helps individuals build social skills, daily living skills, and independence, while also highlighting how important caregivers are in supporting long term success.

Scott is passionate about helping people build meaningful careers in ABA therapy. He shared why our Pathways Program at Family Solutions was created and how it provides support, resources, and direction for those who want to grow in this field. By investing in our therapists, we are committed to providing high quality care and continuing to lead with integrity in behavioral health.

We would like to give a big thank you to Amanda Auttonberry for opening her classroom to us and for the hospitality shown while we spent time with her students. We truly appreciate the opportunity to connect and share more about the work we do.

WEDNESDAY SESSIONS UPDATE!!!

Family Solutions BDS Shreveport will be closed for all morning sessions tomorrow January 28th!

We will re-open for afternoon sessions! If you are scheduled for an afternoon session, someone from our office will call you to confirm your appointment!

Due to continued hazardous conditions and out of concern for the safety of our families and staff, we have made the decision to close the clinic tomorrow (Monday Jan 26th). We will keep you posted regarding Tuesdays therapy schedule and hope to see you then!
In the meantime, stay safe and warm and we can't wait to see you back soon!!

The holidays have a way of flipping routines upside down. One minute everything feels structured and predictable and the next it’s new toys everywhere, leftover snacks, and wondering what day it is 😅
That post holiday adjustment is real for kids and families.

December 1–26 🎁 routines in place, skills growing
December 27–31 🧦 schedules off, expectations fuzzy, fueled by cheese 🧀
