DAG’s first Step Up for Diabetes 5K was a success! The Run&Walk back in February raised funds for the MLK Health Center who provides free healthcare to uninsured and underinsured adults at no cost. We are proud of all of our participants! 🏃🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️💨

To continue our mission to raise money for the MLK Health Center, we will be hosting a fundraiser at Torchy’s Taco’s all day tomorrow Tuesday, February 25th! Just show the flyer or mention the Diabetes Advocacy Club at checkout. Who doesn’t love a Taco Tuesday?! 🌮🌯🫔

4th year medical students have the opportunity to sign up for an international experience to practice medicine in a unique setting via the Support for Humanitarianism through Intercontinental Projects (SHIP). This year, students visited Honduras. We are proud that some of our own DAG members attended this trip and have been practicing diabetes advocacy to many of these patients. From teaching children about a healthy plate to glucose checks in the community, students have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of these Honduras citizens! The diabetes clinic (pictured here) sees over 1000 patients! We are so proud of you!
