What happens when future doctors spend their summer asking big questions?

You get 90 medical students presenting projects, and a room full of discoveries worth celebrating!

Our Medical Student Research Program (MSRP) brought together students who spent weeks working alongside mentors to explore everything from clinical medicine to public health.

Yesterday, those students presented their findings during our annual poster presentation and we couldn’t be more impressed! 👏

Congratulations to Claire Brescher, this year’s first-place winner, and to every student who participated in this outstanding showcase of innovation and collaboration.

North Louisiana’s are already making their mark 💜💛

Career Day at LSU Health Shreveport: Where Futures are Formed

This week, our first and second year medical students met with residency and fellowship program leaders from across our institution.

From Surgery to Pediatrics, Family Medicine to Neurology, and Radiology to Hematology/Oncology, this event highlighted the comprehensive, competitive and career-changing pathways available right here in Shreveport.

Here’s why residents and fellows choose LSUHS:
• Widest selection in the region: We offer 47 fully accredited residency and fellowship programs across specialties, giving trainees diverse options for postgraduate medical training.

• Top-tier programs with unmatched support: Our programs combine hands-on clinical exposure, research opportunities, and a collegial environment for success.

• Live where you train: Shreveport offers a vibrant lifestyle, affordable living, cultural richness, and proximity to major southern cities, a perfect balance between professional growth and personal well-being.

We’re proud to train tomorrow’s healthcare leaders, right from the start of their career journey.

All "fore" the kids ⛳️💜

This morning, LSUHS students, faculty and staff traded scrubs for clubs at Querbes golf course to support Pars for Peds. Since its start in 2021, Pars for Peds has raised more than $124,000 to improve the hospital experience for pediatric patients. That’s the power of a great cause, a supportive community, and a little friendly competition on the course. A huge heartfelt thank you to our students, golfers and sponsors who made this year's tournament a huge success!

She trained here. She left to master a specialty. Now she’s back—bringing world-class care home 💜

Join us in welcoming Dr. Cynthia Noguera, the first and only full-time ASOPRS-trained Oculoplastic Surgeon in North Louisiana — and a proud alum of the LSU Health Shreveport School of Medicine and Ophthalmology Residency.

After completing two years of elite fellowship training in oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgery, Dr. Noguera has returned to her hometown to offer advanced care at Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport that wasn’t available here before — treating everything from eyelid disorders and facial trauma to tear duct issues and more.

In this video, she shares how LSUHS gave her the foundation to succeed, thanks to the unmatched clinical experience at our Level 1 Trauma Center.

🎥 Tap to hear how this Shreveport native is reshaping lives — and why she believes there’s no place like home to make the biggest impact. Welcome back, Dr. Noguera!
