The SUPER program provides undergraduate students an 8-week research internship under the mentorship of a LSU Health Shreveport Faculty Member. Congratulations to our 2024 BioStart Interns for a job well done! The BioStarts presented their research at this year's BioStart Poster Session at LSU Health Shreveport.

The BioStart program provides select seniors from Southwood High School's Biotechnology Magnet Academy the opportunity to conduct research under the guidance of a LSUHS faculty mentor.

BioStart is supported by funding from BRF, the LSU Health Sciences Foundation in Shreveport, and other generous sponsors.

Congratulations to Xiaohong Lu, PhD, Associate Professor of Pharmacology, Toxicology and Neuroscience, who was recently awarded a one-year $506,052 R56 grant from the NIH National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke for his his research project titled, “Mechanistic Investigation of Neuropathological Interactions between COVID-19 and Progression of Lewy Pathology and Dementia."
