Hello everyone,

This is a friendly reminder that our next Northwest Louisiana Parkinson’s Resource meeting will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026 at 1:00 PM at our usual location in the Willis-Knighton Eye Institute (First Floor Auditorium).

We are excited to welcome Rebecca Smith, Speech Therapist, who will be speaking to our group. This is a great opportunity to learn more about speech, communication, and swallowing changes in Parkinson’s—and practical ways to manage them.

As always, we will have light snacks and drinks available, so come ready to learn, connect, and enjoy time together.

Also—an incredible update from Moving Day…
Because of YOU, we raised $75,000 with over 200 people registered! This is truly amazing and speaks volumes about the strength and heart of this community. Thank you to everyone who participated, donated, volunteered, and supported this mission—we could not have done it without you.

I look forward to seeing all of you there!

Because of YOU—our incredible community—we raised $70,000 for those living with Parkinson’s and everyone affected by it. Let that sink in for a moment. 💙

Friends. Families. Caregivers. Patients. Volunteers. Sponsors.
You showed up. You gave your time. Your energy. Your love.

And it meant everything.

Watching this community come together—seeing the smiles, the support, the strength—reminds me exactly why we do what we do. This is more than an event… this is a FAMILY.

To every single person who walked, volunteered, donated, supported, or simply showed up—thank you. You are GOLDEN. I truly could not have done this without y’all.

So proud to say NWLA Parkinson’s Resource came in #1 in fundraising—that’s Shreveport showing up STRONG. 💪

🚨 MOVING DAY IS TOMORROW! 🚨

We can’t wait to see everyone out at Moving Day Shreveport—it’s going to be an incredible morning of community, movement, and support 💙🧡

🛑 Important Reminder:
Roads will begin closing at 9:00 AM.

➡️ If you arrive after 9 AM, don’t worry!
Simply let the police officers stationed at the street entrances know you’re attending Moving Day, and they will gladly let you through.

Let’s show up strong, support one another, and make this first-ever event in our community unforgettable!

Join us April 25 for the FIRST EVER Parkinson’s Foundation Moving Day right here in our city! 💙

We’re bringing the community together to move, learn, and celebrate—with something for everyone:
🍗 Southern Classic Chicken’s famous fried apple pies
🍧 Kona Ice to keep you cool
🎤 A special visit from the Mayor
💪 Live exercise demonstrations on stage
🦘 Kangaroos AND 🐺 baby wolves (yes, really!)

🚶‍♂️ Plus, take part in our ½ mile and 1 mile walks to show the power of people with Parkinson’s and highlight the importance of movement!
