Happy Occupational Therapy Month! 💙 Our dynamic team of OTs helps kids regain or improve their ability to perform day-to-day tasks such as writing, dressing, and playing. With strategies tailored to the specific needs of each child, our OTs build confidence and restore independence...all while making therapy engaging and fun!

For the past year, occupational therapist Alyse has worked with Kynnedi to help strengthen her fine motor skills and coordination. Recently, the pair began holding sessions in our outdoor playground and garden, where activities like gardening, sidewalk chalk, basketball, and climbing all support her therapeutic goals. Through Alyse’s personalized approach, the 11-year-old remains motivated and continues to make meaningful progress in both fine and gross motor development.

We’re proud to recognize Alyse this Occupational Therapy Month! 🤩👏

April is Occupational Therapy Month! We are proud to celebrate our amazing OTs, who help empower our kids to participate in everyday activities that bring meaning, purpose, and independence to their lives. 💙

Over the past month, occupational therapist Michael has been working with 9-year old Ritchie, who fractured his right elbow during a collision on a trampoline. Being right-handed, the injury affected Ritchie’s ability to perform routine tasks.

Under Michael’s direction, Ritchie underwent an OT regimen designed to improve his range of motion, grip strength, and overall strength in his wrist. After several weeks, he transitioned to exercises intended to help strengthen his entire arm. By the end of his session, Ritchie was able to meet his goals and safely return to his daily activities. 💪

Thank you, Michael, for all you do in support of our kids!

Shriners Children’s Shreveport was proud to be a part of today’s GUMBO - Games Uniting Mind and Body games! The annual track and field competition offers athletes ages 5-18 who have physical, visual, and other impairments the opportunity to compete in a supportive, motivational, and inclusive environment. Our rehabilitation and sports medicine teams joined the festivities as a community partner, hosting an information table and offering activities and snacks for participants and guests. We ❤️ supporting this outstanding community initiative!
