Feist-Weiller Cancer Center is a Center of Excellence in Cancer Research, Treatment, and Education supported by LSU Health Shreveport and Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport. Collaboration between cancer researchers and treating physicians fosters a comprehensive understanding of cancer. Feist-Weiller Cancer Center faculty and staff:
- conduct laboratory research and clinical research to discover better methods of preventing and treating cancer
- provide adult and pediatric patients with state-of-the-art cancer care, regardless of their ability to pay
- educate and train Hematology/Oncology Fellows, community physicians, and local residents about cutting-edge cancer treatments
- supply Louisiana communities with cancer screenings and education materials for prevention through Partners in Wellness, a unique community cancer screening program

It was great seeing so many of you at Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport and Urban League of Louisiana's Big Health Event Saturday! Staff and clinicians from Feist-Weiller Cancer Center alone provided screenings to ✨hundreds✨of attendees.
Participants also painted with our Arts in Medicine program🎨, signed up for LSU Health Shreveport medical student-led Survivor Saturday walks👟, learned more about Sickle Cell Disease🩸, as well as the benefits of clinical trials 🧪. FWCC physicians also led a panel discussion on the importance of early screenings for cancer detection, prevention, and treatment! 🩻
🫶Thank you to all of our fantastic volunteers from across the cancer center and into the community for making this effort a success!

Our Adult Sickle Cell program is proud to present “Artistic Expressions”—a vibrant art exhibition showcasing the voices, stories, and talents of patients, caregivers, and community members impacted by sickle cell disease.
From paintings to photography and mixed media, this exhibit celebrates resilience, raises awareness, and invites all of us to see the strength behind the struggle.

In honor of World Sickle Cell Awareness Day on June 19, we're proud to present “Artistic Expressions: June 19 is World Sickle Cell
Awareness Day," a powerful exhibit created by and for the sickle cell community.
Launched in 2023 by the Adult Sickle Cell Program at Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport - Feist-Weiller Cancer Center, this month-long exhibit celebrates the strength and creativity of sickle cell warriors, caregivers, providers, and local artists.

A department of LSU Health Shreveport in Northwest Louisiana, Feist-Weiller Cancer Center is an academic facility with many different board certified specialists who work together to provide comprehensive cancer care. Oncologists, hematologists, surgeons, radiologists, therapists and basic science researchers collaborate to offer preeminent cancer research, cancer prevention programs and excellent treatment to cancer patients.
Unique programs include Integrative Oncology to treat the whole patient with established complementary treatments in addition to conventional cancer care; a Survivorship clinic to care for the special needs of cancer survivors; and a Supportive Care clinic that uses new palliative care techniques to improve quality of life for patients as they undergo cancer treatments.

To be treated by an experienced Feist-Weiller Cancer Center specialist after cancer diagnosis at LSU Health Shreveport or another facility, simply ask your physician for a referral that can be faxed to 318.813.1255. The fax should include relevant clinic notes, diagnostics, pathology reports, prior treatment records and appropriate contact information. The Clinic Nurse Coordinator will be in contact with you to schedule an appointment.
If you are a physician's office, and you have a question about referrals or scheduling an appointment, please call 318.813.1250.
If you are a patient, and have a question about referrals or scheduling an appointment, please call 318.626.0765 or 318.626.0764. The Clinic Nurse Coordinator will be available to answer questions about scheduling.
If you want to be evaluated for participation in a clinical trial ask your physician for a Clinical Trials Referral that can be faxed to 318.813.1040.
Want a second opinion about your cancer diagnosis? Fax relevant clinic notes, diagnostics, pathology reports, prior treatment records and appropriate contact information to 318.813.1255. The referral should clearly state Second Opinion. The Clinic Nurse Coordinator will be in contact to schedule an appointment.
