Caddo Parish Safe Summer Crime Prevention Coalition

Summer break is approaching, and it's time to explore activities for your child to keep them engaged and safe. For the first time, six parish agencies have collaborated to create a summer program designed to keep youth and teens busy. The Caddo Parish Safe Summer Crime Prevention Coalition includes:

- Caddo Parish Parks and Recreation Department
- Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Department
- Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office
- Caddo Parish Juvenile Services
- Project Celebration, Inc.
- KTBS as the Official Media Partner

The initiative, titled "Pull Up and Get Involved," is open to all youth and teens in the parish. The program aims to enrich the lives of our young people by focusing on several key objectives:

- Reducing violent crime in Caddo Parish, particularly homicides
- Prioritizing "crime prevention" over "intervention"
- Encouraging Caddo Parish youth and teens to reduce their screen time and engage in physical activities
- Improving the overall quality of life for youth and teens in Caddo Parish

Caddo Safe Summer activities will be facilitated by coalition members throughout May, June, July, and August. These activities will be free or low-cost and include:

- Be S.A.F.E. Summer Nights Program: Summer activities in a friendly environment (similar to National Night Out)
- Recreational Programs
- Sports Camps and Clinics
- Health and Wellness Programs
- Nature Education Programs
- Crime Prevention Presentations
- Arts and Cultural Programs

For more information about the program and to register your child, please visit [caddosafesummer.org](http://caddosafesummer.org).

What is the Northwest Louisiana Human Services District?

The Northwest Louisiana Human Services District was created by Act 373 in the 2008 Legislative Session to serve the parishes of Caddo, Bossier, Webster, Claiborne, Bienville, Red River, Desoto, Sabine and Natchitoches as a Local Governmental Entity (LGE). The district completed its’ readiness assessment on May 19, 2014 and began operating as a fully authorized Local Governmental Entity on July 1, 2014.

Northwest Louisiana Human Services District is one of 10 LGEs created by the Louisiana Legislature as part of a statewide integrated human services delivery system. With local accountability and management, LGE’s are charged with providing behavioral health and developmental disabilities services to the residents of Louisiana. All LGE’s operate with a framework anchored in clear public policy objectives, well-defined local responsibilities, and accountability measures designed to assure quality services are delivered to Louisiana consumers efficiency and effectively.
