I wanted to share what this lovely lady has to say about our healthcare journey. She’s a participant in a group challenge I’m involved with and I just loved her outlook, and found her words to be really inspiring. (Protecting her identity). Here’s what she says …”Hello all! Here is my progress thus far on my own!
A little about my journey and what ive learned,
In the first photo i was so sick and tired. I was pre-diabetic, my legs literally felt like they were going to rip at times. There were times I had to choose between tasks etc because i was in so much pain, but now i can do everything all at once.
Now at 115lbs lost i keep going, not for a look..but for that woman who suffered. I owe it to her to never feel that way again. I owe it to her to stay healthy and whole. Not only physically, but spiritually, mentally, and emotionally. As that’s the most important work.
If i could offer some words of wisdom to anyone who may need some encouragement on their journey:
(Here are just a few of things ive learned, and applied along this journey).
Please understand this journey of self care doesn’t have an expiration. As it never truly ends.
Failure and falling is a part of this process. The sooner its grasped that there will be days where the mark will be missed; the sooner you can get back up and keep going.
Having an all or nothing attitude is a recipe for complete failure. The perfect recipe is to be merciful to you, consistent, and to understand this will take time.
One day or week wont make or break your progress.
No matter what the scale says, if you put in the work it will pay off.
You have a lifetime to get this right.
If you fall or feel like your headed in the wrong direction..get up as soon as you can and make a U-Turn at the nearest intersection as soon as you can 🙏
Understand there will be times when the body is re-calibrating (turning fat into muscle) and that scale wont move. I once went through this for 3 months! but guess what? i just kept going because i knew my body would catch up..and sure enough it did. By the time the scale started moving again i had totally re-calibrated my entire body. I looked like a completely different person.
Dont let a piece of scrap metal with numbers on it determine your worth. It wont tell you how much change is going on, how much muscle is being converted from fat, how many inches you have lost, how you are re-shaping you from the inside out!
Please be merciful to you, be kind, don’t compare your journey to anyone else’s.
Remember a loss is a loss and there is no such thing as fast or slow progression. Progress is Progress.
No matter how long it takes, stay in the game for the person who matters most. YOU!
Do this for YOU and no one else.
Your only job is to be better than the person you were yesterday.
You are your only competition.
Even goal is not the end. You owe it to yourself to spend a lifetime working on the betterment of you.
Time is a construct and an illusion.
True success is not nor will it ever be a straight line.
Eat well, Drink water, Supplement, Take care of yourself.
Do the work, and success will make the noise for you.
Lastly, please be kind to yourself right where you are. That body you want and will change is the one that is carrying you, even if it’s temporary. It hears everything you say to it and about it. Therefore, it will manifest whatever you tell it. Call it ugly, useless, etc that’s what your body will believe and return to you because that’s what you told every cell and it believed you. Call it a whole, call it loved, call it enough, bold, and beautiful in every way! and so shall it be. Words are powerful. Be Kind to yourself every step of the way along this journey. YourSELF is listening and you deserve to speak to yourself as lovingly as you would anyone else.
Blessings all! I hope this helps you to keep pressing. Remember, there is nothing YOU can’t do.
