Big News!
Last weekend, your entire PT team at MMPT-Shreveport got their NISE-Stim Level 1 certifications!

NISE‑Stim (Non-Invasive Spinal Electrical Stimulation) is a therapeutic method that applies safe electrical currents through surface electrodes placed over the skin (i.e. it’s non‑invasive) to stimulate the spinal cord, associated nerves, and muscles.
It is used especially in children with neurological damage: conditions like spina bifida, spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy, and other motor and sensory impairments.
The targeted effects of this technique include:
- Motor Improvements: Activation or improvement of muscle function, motor control, strength, trunk (core) stability.
- Sensory Improvements: Gains in sensation in areas where there was impaired or absent sensation.
- Autonomic Functions: Possible improvements in breathing, digestion, bladder and bowel control, circulation, etc.

MMPT is Going Gold in September in support of all of our friends and families affected by childhood cancer. On average, 42 families will find out their child has cancer every day. Despite how common these diseases are, in the last 30 years, only 7 drugs have been approved for children with cancer, but over 200 have been approved for adults. Awareness leads to early detection. Awareness leads to funding for research to find treatment and cures. Spread the gold this month with us! 💛
