Reiki is an ancient Japanese healing technique which focuses on bringing balance to the chakras or energy centers of the body. Energy can stagnate in the body where there has been physical injury or even emotional pain. In time, these energy blocks may cause illness or β€œdis”ease.

Using gentle touch and hand movements, Kristy and Jamie will guide the flow of healthy energy through the body to open and balance the chakras. Improving the flow of energy around the body can enable relaxation, reduce pain, speed healing, and also help fight fatigue. Experience 90 minutes of self-love with the healing combination of restorative yoga poses and reiki.Kristy is a certified Reiki Master and Jamie is Level 2 Reiki Healer.

Our Instructor Spotlight is Heather Ryan! πŸ˜„πŸŽŠπŸ‘πŸ’œ

Heather Ryan has been instrumental in the development of the Bloom community. Within a month of teaching at the studio, she was diagnosed with cancer and the community of teachers and students quickly jumped into action. Watching everyone pour love into her and support her journey was a reminder to everyone at the studio that no one here is ever alone. It is hard to believe that journey began two and a half years ago.

Just as Heather has changed and grown into the woman she is today, so has her yoga practice. Her current favorite style of yoga to practice is Yin, and she admits it has been a slow burn. "I used to take only flow or energetic, I was seeking the challenging parts of yoga. I realized later that slowing down and holding a pose was actually more challenging than the energetic classes. I love that Yin makes me slow down and just be."

When not teaching or practicing yoga at Bloom, Heather is a mother, wife, and Relationship Manager at Merrill Lynch. "We help people with their retirement and life goals. I enjoy being able to help people and working with numbers. My full time job allows me to do that. I also feel like my job is the yang to my (Yin) yoga teaching at Bloom."

Heather is a living reminder that growth doesn’t always come through force; sometimes it comes through surrender, patience, and trust. Her journey, both on and off the mat, has shaped the spirit of our community in ways that continue to ripple outward. Bloom is better because she is here, and we are endlessly thankful for the light, resilience, and heart she shares so generously with our students.

A little more about Heather:
What brings you back to your mat: "Life. I always come back to my mat when I am feeling stressed or worn down. I know it's time for a yoga class or meditation when I start feeling caught up in my day-to-day. "

When in life do you feel like you bloom: "I feel that I bloomed since I've been at Bloom. I think I was searching for a yoga community that I was not finding anywhere else. When I started attending classes here I was welcomed with open arms. I never felt intimidated or left a class feeling discouraged. When I started teaching, I found myself opening up more; I started allowing people in the community in. Bloom was a huge reason I made it through my cancer journey. I believe everyone showed me that it is okay to not be okay. I love the yoga teacher and person I have become!! I love that Bloom helped me BLOOM!"

What is your favorite thing about Bloom Yoga Studio: "The people!! The teachers, the students, the whole community!!"

We welcome Robin to the Bloom Family! πŸ’œπŸ˜„πŸ˜Š

Robin is a retired RN and yoga instructor who is passionate about helping people move, breathe, and feel better in their everyday lives. She was first introduced to yoga in 2009 and completed Yoga Fit I certification in 2013, Yoga Fit II in 2015, and in January of 2018 RYT 200 hour with Ally Ford. January of 2024 she completed Trauma Sensitive Yoga Training at Bloom Yoga. Instructing Veterans on gentle movement and mindfulness meditation to ease symptoms of PTSD and Substance Abuse Disorder. With a relaxed and welcoming teaching style, Robin creates classes that are accessible, grounding, and supportive for students of all levels. Whether guiding a calming flow or an energizing practice, Robin focuses on helping students connect with their bodies and cultivate a sustainable well-rounded yoga practice.

Congratulations to our YoGi Of ThE mOnTh Edgar! πŸŽŠπŸ‘πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ˜„

If you have been to the studio at all during October, November or December, it's almost impossible for you to not have crossed paths with Edgar. He is a walking inspiration. His progress and physical transformation is a true testament to the healing power of yoga and our incredible community.

When asked what he loves most about Bloom, Edgar shared, β€œIt's impossible to name a single favorite thing. Bloom is challenging and safe. Compassion, empathy and competence are verbs here, they are actions, not theory. People often smile. The instructors meet you where you are and lead you to your next step.”

In the three month Edgar has been attending Bloom, he accomplished several studio milestones, He was the first student to completely black out his Gratitude Bingo Board, he has attended a class with every teacher at the studio, and became a Mala Member (setting a new studio record). Edgar cannot choose a favorite class saying, "Kristy's Yin class is amazing, I always feel and move better immediately after class. I also enjoy Stephanie's beginner flow because it is physically challenging. The class is high energy. Stephanie both pushes you and holds you back making me feel safe."

Yoga has become an intentional part of Edgar’s daily life, sometimes attending two or even three classes a day. When we asked about a benefit he notices from his practice, he said, β€œI came to Bloom after two months of bed rest following a surgery. I had a noticeable limp. I was in constant pain. People would stand back and open doors unasked. Now I walk without a limp. I've managed to stand from the floor twice without blocks. I've made progress physically. Much more importantly, Bloom Yoga took me from a state of near hopelessness to hope! ”

We are deeply grateful that Edgar has found yoga and healing. Stories like this are why Bloom is so special. Thank you, Edgar, for trusting the studio and all of our teachers, and of course, for planting yourself here and helping our community flourish! πŸͺ΄πŸ§˜πŸΌ
