Our provider Patti Bornaman said it best, “8 years ago today. We are thankful for our founder.”
His impact continues to ripple through each of us, and we pray we continue his legacy always asking “what can we do for you?”.

On the fence?

Starting therapy is a big decision. Many people are hesitant to take the first step into counseling, and it makes sense—opening up to someone new, facing difficult emotions, or simply committing to sessions can feel like a lot. The thing is, therapy isn’t just for people in crisis. It’s for anyone who wants to understand themselves better, break unhelpful patterns, or just have a space to process life’s challenges with support.

If you’re on the fence, here are a few reasons to give counseling a shot:

"Old Baggage”, me?

Yes you, and me, and everyone else. We all have that mental and emotional stuff we call baggage.

As we travel through life, we acquire and store, in the trunks of our minds and hearts, stuff we’d rather forget and/or pretend doesn’t exist.

Instead of simply adding more luggage to the pile, maybe we should develop the tools to sort, organize, and leave behind some of the excess so we can move forward carrying a lighter load. But how???

Ziad K. Abdelnour, a Wall Street Financier, Author, Philanthropist, Oil & Gas Trader, perhaps said it best. “Everyone you meet comes with baggage, find someone who cares enough to help you unpack.”

We care! Let us help you “unpack” and drop the weight of what you’re carrying.

What can we do for you?

June is Men’s Health Month and while there is a strong focus on men’s physical health (working out, check-ups, etc), a man’s mental health is equally important.
Check out some information in an article published by NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness).

“Mental health affects us all. Men die by su***de at 4 times the rate than women do, but men are much less likely than women to seek and/or receive mental health treatment. In addition to symptoms like worry, sadness, and loss of motivation, men often feel irritable, angry, and frustrated when dealing with poor mental health. Many men don’t receive the information and support they need to take care of their mental health, leading them to cope with things through substance use, aggression, and reckless behavior.

Men are often socialized to have traits that are protective for their mental health -- things like resilience, drive, and self-sufficiency. Being honest about your pain and struggles, bonding with friends and family, and asking for professional help when you need it are all proactive things that you can do to protect your mental health. However, these are all things that require vulnerability – something that is too often stigmatized for men. If you're experiencing poor mental health, don’t let stigma get in the way of asking for help.”

Check on the men in your life. Let them know support is available. Our staff of Licensed Professional Counselors are here to help! Reach out today!

This week we wanted to recognize and thank all of the emergency medical services professionals who provide critical care to our communities.

We celebrate not only EMT’s and paramedics, but everyone in the emergency medical system from the 9-1-1 call taker, to the Emergency Department at the receiving hospital. Every member is a vital link in the continuity of care and we are grateful for their dedication to their profession.

We also want to emphasize the mental well-being of EMS providers, and directly address EMS fatigue. It is critical for EMS providers to remember the importance of self-care and the cultivation of resilience, particularly in safeguarding first responder mental health.

Just a reminder for all EMS professionals to place their own health on equal footing with the care they provide to others. Our providers would love to work with you on establishing strategies and offering insights that will help strengthen your mental resilience amidst the rigors of your daily responsibilities.

Let us know how we can help!
