SMR instructors were honored to be invited by Dr. Shane Barton to participate in a training event for LA State Police SWAT. This event was coordinated by instructors from the Red River Army Depot, supported by the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office and sponsored by Willis Knighton Health System.

AHA Faculty B. Sparks & C. Menefee extend a well-deserves congratulations to this outstanding group of EMS professionals on successfully completing our April 2026 AHA PALS Instructor Course!

These instructor candidates were endorsed for their instructor potential and went on to complete all required components—including online coursework, instructor-led training, and hands-on skills verification. As a final step, they participated in monitoring while teaching a PALS provider course. They demonstrated strong proficiency in delivering course content and leading scenario-based learning discussions.

Special thanks to Casey McBeath & Balentine Ambulance for hosting these courses. This class was a true success, driven by the professionalism, dedication, and engagement of both the instructor candidates and the students they taught. Their commitment to advancing pediatric emergency care education will have a lasting impact in the communities they serve.

Huge congratulations to an outstanding group of dedicated paramedics who just completed our full 2026 AHA Instructor Series.

We started with 18 instructor candidates back in January—five have gone the distance and completed the full trifecta. They are now certified American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS instructors.

This is no small achievement. It reflects commitment, discipline, and a passion for raising the standard of care in our community. We’re proud not only of what they’ve accomplished, but of the role they’ll play in advancing emergency medical education across our region.

Remember: Learn the skills to give someone a second chance on their worst day. These new instructors are ready to show you the way.

The Webster Council on Aging is an organization whose mission is to serve the senior citizens of Webster Parish. It was an honor to donate an AHA Friends & Family course to a group of people who certainly have an opportunity to make a difference in our community.
