Let's talk fiber!!!

-Fiber is a nondigestible, plant-derived carbohydrate that has many health benefits.
-There are two types of fiber: soluble fiber, which dissolves in water, and insoluble fiber, which does not dissolve in water. Both types are important for health.
-Many types of soluble fiber can act as prebiotics that feed healthy gut bacteria.
-Fiber is in foods such as beans, seeds, nuts, vegetables, fruits, and whole grains. Fiber comes from PLANTS. We all need to eat more plants!
-Most people are not eating enough fiber. We need anywhere from 20-30+ grams a day.

And my favorite fact...
Adequate fiber intake can decrease the incidence of colon cancer.

And it's perfectly fine to get your fiber from capsules, powders (metamucil), ect... But lets make it our March goal to eat more fiber!
