Congratulations to our SHPS February 2026 Student of the Month:
Marvin “Chipper” Ettredge!

A Physician Assistant student, Chipper is recognized by faculty and staff as a kind, service-hearted leader who consistently goes above and beyond for his classmates. He regularly creates study guides, quizzes, and learning resources, offers encouragement, and makes sure everyone feels supported all while actively volunteering at Common Ground Food Pantry to serve the community. Chipper is known for putting others first, uplifting peers during stressful moments, and contributing to both academic and community success. We are proud to celebrate his compassion, leadership, and dedication!

We are incredibly thankful to Margaret Shehee and David Cole, long-time and dedicated supporters of LSU Health Shreveport, for their generosity and continued commitment to education and healthcare. Their support made it possible to establish the Margaret Shehee Cole Endowed Scholarship for First-Generation Students.

Because of their vision and generosity, a Caddo Parish student has been named the first recipient of this scholarship—an opportunity that helps reduce financial barriers and empowers first-generation students to pursue their dreams in healthcare.

Macey Duncan, a Physician Assistant Studies student in the School of Health Professions and Sciences, is breaking barriers as the inaugural awardee of this meaningful scholarship.
This honor not only celebrates Macey’s hard work and dedication but also highlights the importance of expanding access to higher education and reducing financial stress for aspiring healthcare professionals.
