Ours is a university based program that incorporates community affiliated training. Our goal is to give young physicians every real-life opportunity to learn the practice of family medicine and to equip them with the knowledge and skills to provide excellent and compassionate care in the various medical settings of today. We strive to help each resident grow both professionally and personally during the three years of training, as well as enable them to become life-long learners. Choosing a residency program is one of the most important decisions you can make in your medical career. The LSUHSC-Shreveport Family Medicine Residency Program actually consists of three different programs:

1. Rural Track (Located in Vivian, LA)
3. Combined Emergency Medicine/Family Medicine

Interns unite(d)! 💥 July had all our amazing interns together on inpatient, learning, growing, and having a blast as a team. It was such a fun and special time seeing everyone support each other through those first few weeks.
Now, in August, they’re off to different rotations, spreading their wings across the hospital (and clinics!). Go shine, y’all ✨ We’re so proud of you!

We’re thrilled to celebrate Dr. Ryunosuke Hisatomi, our amazing PGY2 Family Medicine resident, for making us proud at the AMSSM (American Medical Society for Sports Medicine) Case Competition! 🏅

Dr. Hisatomi was part of the winning team in this prestigious event, where residents and fellows across the country present and analyze complex sports medicine cases. His dedication, knowledge, and teamwork truly showcased the strength of Family Medicine in Sports Medicine!
