Today, on World Autism Awareness Day, the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine proudly joins the global community in recognizing and supporting individuals on the autism spectrum.
Autism is not a limitation, it is a different way of experiencing and interacting with the world. We celebrate the unique strengths, perspectives, and contributions of those with autism, while also acknowledging the importance of understanding, acceptance, and access to compassionate care.
As a department, we remain committed to advancing awareness, promoting inclusive practices, and supporting evidence-based care for individuals and families impacted by autism spectrum disorder.
Let today serve as a reminder to lead with empathy, embrace neurodiversity, and continue building a community where everyone is valued and supported. 💙
