Happy back-to-school week, everyone! When we started Body Theraoeutics in December 2009, I had just found out I was pregnant.🤰🏻Today that baby is heading to high school! 🤯 Wishing all the kids, teachers, administrators, parents, college students, and adult learners out there a great school year!

In the last several months we have seen more and more patients noting extremely high levels of stress - affecting their sleep, their work and their relationships. Stress levels are causing their blood pressure to go up, digestion to be upset, fatigue and headaches to worsen, and pain symptoms to increase.

If you are noticing that your stress levels are creating greater anxiety throughout your day, and new or worsening symptoms have developed, we are here to help!

Acupuncture is extremely effective at treating anxiety. Studies have shown that it is more effective than pharmaceuticals or talk therapy alone. In particular it has been shown to:

* Improve heart rate variability
* Lower blood pressure and heart rate
* Regulate the sympathetic (fight-or-flight) and parasympathetic (rest-and-digest) nervous systems
* Release Serotonin, Dopamine and GABA
* Reduce Cortisol
* Increase endorphins

It's important to note that this happens with regular acupuncture treatment, which for most people is considered once to twice per week during periods of acute symptoms. Once symptoms have improved and you are on a maintenance schedule with your acupuncture, treatments are usually once to twice per month.

What you *can’t* easily see is the exceptional skill, intuitive touch, and deeply healing energy they bring to their practice every single day. ❤️ These people are all healers in the truest sense, and we are all so fortunate that they’ve chosen to do what they do!
