ForHealth Consulting's Research and Evaluation Consultant, Yara Halasa-Rappel, DDS, PhD, in collaboration with academic colleagues, reports new findings in The Journals of the American Dental Association showing that sealed primary molars are associated with a reduced and delayed onset of cavities, and required less invasive retreatment, including fewer operating room procedures.

These results emphasize the importance of early preventive care, particularly as community water fluoridation faces increasing viability nationwide. Learn more:

The authors investigated the association of resin-based sealants with the onset of pit and fissure caries (PFC) and smooth surface caries (SSC) on primary molars.

This week, the ForHealth Consulting School Based Services team is at the Alaska Association of School Business Officers (ALASBO) winter conference in Anchorage.

Our team presented about our collaboration with the Alaska Department of Health to expand participation in the Medicaid School-Based Services Program.

Through this initiative, school districts are eligible to receive technical and financial assistance to help them access vital federal reimbursement for health care and health-related services provided by schools. Our team’s technical support services include assistance with the Medicaid provider enrollment process, guidance on covered services and qualified providers, training on the Medicaid provider portal, and opportunities for peer learning and support.

Tomorrow morning, Ying (Elaine) Wang, PhD, Executive Director of Research & Evaluation at ForHealth Consulting and Associate Professor in the Department of Population & Quantitative Health Sciences at UMass Chan Medical School, and Neshe Gafuri, Deputy Director of Behavioral Health Data Strategy at MassHealth, will represent Massachusetts on a panel at the AcademyHealth State-University Partnership Learning Network (SUPLN) 2025 Annual Fall Meeting in Washington, D.C.

They will co-present in the session “Behavioral Health Initiatives and Analyses: State-University Partnerships Bridge Policy, Practice, and Community Need,” alongside colleagues from across the country to discuss behavioral health research, evaluation, and state–university collaboration.
