In 1983 the Big Red Spartans began the what we now consider BIG RED TRADITION! Let’s go back to week 8 of the 1983 season BIG RED defeats The Wave 10-0. LB has always been a formidable opponent. Most likely because the players on both sides knew each other on and off the field. This game always came with “bragging rights” whether it was at the beach or “the windmill” on ocean Avenue in Long Branch. This was always considered “the war at the shore”.
