In yoga, the breath is a quiet teacher.

When breathing feels shallow or strained, it’s often a sign that we’re stressed or working harder than needed. A small shift, such as softening the ribs, lifting gently through the crown, and grounding through the feet, can change the quality of the breath almost immediately.

The body is always communicating. When we listen first, movement becomes more supportive and far more sustainable.

Notice what your own breath is doing the next time you pause.

One of the myths I’ve spent years gently undoing is the idea that aging automatically means decline.

What I see instead is adaptation. Bodies change. Needs change. And with thoughtful, supportive movement, the body can continue to feel strong, capable, and at ease.

Aging well isn’t about trying to move as you did years ago. It’s about learning how to work with the body you have today.

A gentle reminder: You don’t need to fix your body before you listen to it.

Sometimes the most supportive thing you can do is pause, notice your breath, and let that guide the next small movement. When the breath softens, the body often follows.

Progress doesn’t always come from doing more. Sometimes it comes from paying attention.

Winter has a way of asking us to slow down.

But sometimes that slowing can feel like low energy, heaviness, or a dip in mood.

When it does, there are simple, supportive practices you can do to care for your body and nervous system that don’t require pushing or fixing.

I just finished reading Happy Mind, Happy Life by Dr. Rangan Chatterjee, and this line really stayed with me.

After years of teaching yoga, I’ve seen this truth again and again: when we approach ourselves with respect (especially in this season of life), the body softens, the nervous system settles, and contentment becomes possible. Not perfect. Just present. And that’s enough.

What one word captures how you want to feel today?

A recent 2025-study suggests that yoga practice may be one of our most powerful tools for optimizing health at the molecular level.

As the season shifts, I’ve been thinking a lot about nourishment—what helps me feel grounded and well, inside and out. šŸ

In my newsletter this week, I’m sharing a few things that have been inspiring (and nourishing) me lately: a book on aging well, an article about midlife metabolism, and a cozy pumpkin baked oatmeal recipe. 🄣

Can you still sit on the floor comfortably?

For many of us, that simple act feels harder than it used to — but it’s more important than you might think.

In my latest blog, I share why getting down (and back up!) matters for mobility, balance, and independence — and how yoga can help you do it safely and confidently.
