Today marks the official end of the COVID-19 public health emergency (YEAH!). As such, wearing a mask is now OPTIONAL when you are seen in the office. There are still many patients (pregnant, women over 65, immune compromised, etc) who are at high risk of developing severe COVID infections so we kindly ask that if you are exposed to COVID-19 or have any upper respiratory symptoms that you notify the office so we can re-schedule your appointment.

Thank you for your cooperation.

New CDC Data: COVID-19 Vaccination Safe for Pregnant People

The CDC has released new data on the safety of the COVID-19 vaccines in pregnant people and is recommending that all people 12 years of age and older get vaccinated against COVID-19.

“CDC encourages all pregnant people or people who are thinking about becoming pregnant and those breastfeeding to get vaccinated to protect themselves from COVID-19,” said CDC Director Rochelle Walensky, MD. “The vaccines are safe and effective, and it has never been more urgent to increase vaccinations as we face the highly transmissible Delta variant and see severe outcomes from COVID-19 among unvaccinated pregnant people.”

There was some buzz in the local news regarding Memorial Hospital last week setting a record for deliveries in a 24 hour period. What the story does not mention is that a patient from Shrewsbury OB/GYN, PC was the record breaking delivery #25! Fortunately, I was able to be there to welcome the healthy newborn to the world and celebrate this record.

25 babies were born at UMass Maternity Center within 24 hours.
