Open Pathways to Health

Open Pathways to Health Open Pathways to Health is an interactive online resource for people who want to get well and change the world, created by MaryJo Johnson, LAc, LMT, MDiv

Taking care of our health and taking care of planetary health (from bacteria and fungi to phyto- and zooplankton to fish, birds, animals, people, soils, metals, water, air, and energy) is fundamentally the same thing. What nourishes us nourishes everything around us. What poisons us poisons the people who live and work around where it is produced and the frogs that consume it as waste. The same forces that are killing birds and bees are killing us as well. As one suffers, we all do. The ecosystem around us out of balance is mirrored by the ecosystem within us (microbiome) also out of balance. As the earth warms, humans are experiencing pandemic acute and chronic inflammatory disease. Our individual health is a microcosm of the health of the planet. To care for ourselves we must also care for the whole earth. So how do we get well? How do we nourish life? Gradually, patiently, one step at a time, away from what hurts, in the direction of what heals.
