Arizona Ambulance Transport

Arizona Ambulance Transport Come and see how wonderful our AZA family is. Get to know who we are and how much we care for our co with one ambulance to serve Douglas, Arizona.

In April 2000, Paul Pedersen and Edward Van Horne founded Arizona Ambulance of Douglas Inc. The operation was started to transport patients from the Southeastern Arizona Medical Center (SAMC) to Bisbee, Sierra Vista and Tucson. Currently, Arizona Ambulance operates ten ambulances covering multiple communities of Southern Cochise County. Bariatric transport capabilities and an additional CCT ambula

nce have been added. In July 2007, Arizona Ambulance Transport became the primary 9-1-1 and non-emergency provider for the Fort Huachuca military installation in Sierra Vista. Arizona Ambulance Transport was founded not to be all things to all people; rather we focus on areas the company can excel by providing a high quality long-distance ambulance transport service dedicated to specific hospitals and communities. The employees of Arizona Ambulance Transport are the key to the business and our workplace reflects this philosophy.

It takes a full team behind the scenes to keep ambulances in service, and this kind of support makes a real difference for our crews and our community.

Meet Zona, our Southern Arizona GMR therapy dog.

While she is always happy to greet anyone she meets, Zona’s main job is supporting our crews. EMS can be a demanding job, and sometimes a few quiet minutes with a therapy dog can make a big difference after a long shift or a difficult call.

Zona spends her time visiting stations, riding along with crews, and reminding everyone to take a breath once in a while.

Today she decided the stretcher looked like the best seat in the ambulance. We’re not arguing with her.

EMS is not just a job. It is a team, a profession, and a commitment to the community we serve.

These photos show just a small glimpse of the people behind Arizona Ambulance. From paramedic graduations, to hands on training, to community events, to the everyday work that keeps our ambulances ready to respond.

Our crews continue to step up, support each other, and represent this profession the right way. We are proud of the dedication, professionalism, and teamwork they bring every day.

To our team, thank you for everything you do for the communities we serve.

Being part of GMR means Douglas does not stand alone.

Today we showcased our ability to provide seamless care from the street to the sky. Ground ambulances, helicopter transport, and fixed wing aircraft working together to ensure patients receive the right care at the right time.

This is coordinated, high level medicine backed by one of the largest EMS networks in the country.

From Douglas to wherever the patient needs to go, we have it covered.

Clinical training day for Arizona Ambulance.

Our teams received updates to our airway guidelines, practiced critical skills, and our ALS providers learned advanced concepts related to transporting vented patients. That training directly translates to better care for our community.

Every new skill, every updated protocol, every rep on a mannequin prepares us for the real call.

We are committed to expanding our capabilities and continuing to deliver high quality, safe, and reliable care across Cochise County.

Training never stops. And neither does our commitment to our patients.

Our REACH family is devastated to share that Susan ā€œSuzieā€ Smith has passed away from injuries sustained during the accident involving helicopter N414RX on Highway 50 on Monday night.

We will remember Suzie as a pillar of the EMS and healthcare community who saved countless lives by delivering compassionate care in their darkest hours. Suzie’s 50-year career as a nurse included nearly 21 years with REACH, and we are proud to call her our colleague and friend. We hope she is remembered for the light she brought to every call, every shift, and every patient she blessed with her care.

We grieve Suzie’s loss with her family, friends, colleagues and the entire community that she faithfully served. Her impact will be felt for years to come through the lives she touched, the teams she strengthened, and the compassion she embodied. Thank you for keeping Suzie’s loved ones and our REACH family in your thoughts and support for our team during this difficult time.

What’s better than one medic student graduating? Three!
That’s right, these three gentlemen have successfully passed their class AND their National Registry! We could not be more proud to have watched them graduate today after all of their hardwork and dedication they have poured into this achievement. They deserve all the recognition and praise!
Please join us in celebrating, Tony, Andrew and Jacob.
Congratulations, gentlemen! You did it!

Our Story

Founded in April 2000, Arizona Ambulance Transport is co-owned by Paul Pedersen and Edward Van Horne, who combined have over 60 years of experience in the health care, public safety, law enforcement and military arenas.

Since the company’s inception, Arizona Ambulance Transport has treated and transported over 30,000 Cochise County patients.

Arizona Ambulance Transport provides the highest level of ambulance transportation in Southern Arizona, providing Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Critical Care Transport (CCT) services 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. Our employees are the backbone of our company, providing the highest level of quality, compassion and professionalism expected of health care providers.

We are all about patient care at Arizona Ambulance Transport. Our registered nurses, paramedics and EMTs are highly trained; constantly receiving training to insure they have the highest degree of competence. Our caregivers can provide advanced drugs and blood as well as caring for patients on ventilators. We are a key link in the continuum of care from Cochise County hospitals to advanced care facilities in Tucson or elsewhere. Our caregivers have revived patients who have suffered cardiac arrest and delivered babies in the back of our ambulances.
