What is an Orofacial Myofunctional Disorder or OMD? Atypical, adaptive patterns that emerge in the absence of normalized patterns within the orofacial complex. The regular presence of these adap

tive movements can often result in a variety of disturbances. Examples include one and or more of the following: noxious oral habits, open mouth posture, tongue forward posture, tongue thrust swallow. Diagnoses that can be helped by an orofacial myofunctional treatment approach:
*dental malocclusions and orthodontic relapse
*tongue thrust
*sleep disordered breathing including sleep apnea
*lingual restrictions
*tethered oral tissues
*jaw pain
*noxious oral habits
*oral dysphagia

The goals of therapy:
Demonstrate correct....
1. oral rest posture (lips closed, tongue lightly suctioned to the palate, with nasal breathing)
2. oral phase of swallow
4. articulation

Eliminate....
1. noxious oral habits (examples: thumb sucking, biting any non-food objects such as pens or fingernails)
3. tongue thrust
4. tongue forward posture
5. open mouth posture/ mouth breathing

Contact me for further information about this specialized therapy that gets sustained results.

Demyelination blog #5 shows how the exacerbation of mouth breathing’s hypoxia and NO deficiency disrupts microtubule function by reducing UPEs, impairing CSF waveguiding, and desynchronizing wave function collapses. If the light stimulus causing hypoxia is strong enough or has a long enough duration, it always leads to cognitive decline and a variation of myelin-based neurodegeneration.

This “electrical scar” of disease is a quantum failure, and it mirrors GOE-era oxygen stress, unseen by centralized medicine. Restoring AM sunlight, restores nasal breathing, NO function, OPC and Schwann cell alignment with circadian biology, and applies the optimal DDW stoichiometry of the IMM to re-engineer this system, supporting myelination, microtubule coherence, and improve consciousness in any state, but especially the neurodegenerative state where cognitive haze is the craze in the modern technocracy due to blue light exposure.

They challenge everything. Your boundaries. Your patience. Your tone. Your timing…

And some days, it feels relentless. Like you’re locked in a power struggle with someone half your size but twice your intensity.

But what if we could - just for a moment - see that they’re not fighting us, but fighting to find themselves?

Strong-willed children aren’t trying to be “difficult.” They’re trying to feel powerful in a world where they often feel small, unheard, or out of control.

And their intensity? It’s not a flaw. It’s their way of testing what’s real, what’s safe, and what kind of leader they can become.

When we meet their fire with fear, we dim it. When we meet it with control, we clash. But when we meet it with grounded leadership - when we show them how to use their strength with integrity - we give them something far more valuable than obedience.

We give them trust in their own voice.

Strong-willed doesn’t mean bad. It means brave. It means bold. It means they’re going to need you to be the calm anchor they can push against as they find their place in the world.

This isn’t about taming them. It’s about walking beside them - while they learn to lead with heart, not force.

Because their fire was never meant to be extinguished.

It was meant to light the way. ❤️

Your tongue acts as a rudder and support system through a fascial line that runs right down to your toes!

In nearly all my patients, I see poor tongue posture, and the links to bad spinal posture, breathing, and other issues are felt right throughout the body.

The simplest way we can see how the tongue is so influential is how it supports proper head posture. When the tongue is down and forward, forward head posture and mouthbreathing occurs.

Over time this associates with a narrow jaw, crooked teeth, and sleep disorders.

But… you guessed it, as always the mouth is a gateway for so many other systems in the body.

The tongue is an extremely complex muscular and fascial rudder system.

It guides all the structures of the myofascial continuity that runs from the inner arch of the foot all the way up through the middle of the body to the tongue and jaw muscles.

Isn’t that amazing?

Actually the tongue is potentially more important for core stability than turning on your actual core.

Our core begins deep under the arch with the insertions of the tendons from the lower leg, especially tibialis posterior.

To find its insertion, feel just under the inside arch of the foot, just underneath and forward of protrusion of the navicular bone you can feel a bit over an inch in front of your tibial malleolus on the inside of your ankle.

This point will respond to a soft-but-energy-rich touch that is held, and also to a more firm and direct fascial release. Pressing here can make a flow of feeling run up the fascial line.

So for better core support, spinal, hip and leg strength, you need to work on your tongue posture.

During exercise practice sealing the tongue to the roof of the mouth, this turns on the fascial rudder to the toes. It takes time and you need to work on making the BACK of the tongue connect to the soft palate. More on this to come.
