During the course of her RN career the majority of the time was spent as a home health nurse. โ€œItโ€™s from home health that my desire to become a nurse practitioner really started.โ€ She completed her Bachelorโ€™s degree in nursing in 2005 through University of Phoenix and her Family Nurse Practitioner through Southern Illinois University โ€“ Edwardsville in December of 2010. She began practicing as a family nurse practitioner in early 2011 and has been working in rural health ever since. Pam is from the Midwest, having lived in Illinois for most of her life, and her husband is from Southeast Iowa. So, coming to Sigourney was โ€œperfect for my family.โ€ When not working, Pam enjoys taking road trips, reading and spending time with her husband, son and extended family. She enjoys seeing patients of all ages but her passion is for those patients with chronic health issues. At her last position, she practiced primary family care and worked alongside a Pulmonologist, gaining training and knowledge in Pulmonology. Here she will continue to provide family medical care for all ages, including womenโ€™s health, and treatment of chronic conditions. Pam has a caring and compassionate nature, preferring to take a holistic approach to medicine, where patients are an active participant in their own health care. โ€œI believe all patients are equal and deserve the same attention and quality of care. I will work with you no matter what stage of health or life you are in.โ€

We are so excited to have Pam on our team of amazing and compassionate clinic providers. We hope to see you soon for any of your health and wellness needs.

KCHC Offers Low-Dose CT (LDCT) Screening

The American Cancer Society recommends yearly screening for lung cancer with a low-dose CT LDCT scan. A Low-Dose CT (LDCT) scan is a quick, painless, and non-invasive procedure, similar to an X-ray, that uses significantly less radiation than a traditional CT scan. It provides detailed images of the lungs, helping to detect lung cancer early when it's most treatable.

You may qualify for annual screening if you meet all the following:

ยท Age 50-80 years old
ยท Have a 20 pack-year smoking history
ยท Currently smoke or have quit within the past 15 years

If you're at high risk for lung cancer, talk to your healthcare provider about whether a Low-Dose CT scan at is right for you. A referral is required, so be sure to schedule an appointment with your provider to discuss your screening options.

Keokuk County Health Center

Keokuk County Health Center (KCHC) is a tax-exempt, 14 bed Critical Access Hospital (CAH). We have been providing quality healthcare since our founding in 1954. Accredited by the state of Iowa as a level IV Trauma Care Center and a CAH, KCHC is located at 23019 Highway 14 in Sigourney, Iowa. It is our mission to provide quality and compassionate care. We believe the best way to achieve this goal is to keep our patientโ€™s needs in mind and to keep our well staff trained.

The Keokuk County Medical Center is located on the KCHC campus. It provides health care services to all ages Monday through Friday.

KCHC is operated by an elected 7 member board of trustees, who are elected for 6-year terms and meet monthly. The trustees are responsible for everything covering health center operations, including but not limited to the care of the building and grounds, control and supervision of all staff physicians; nurses an other employees.

In 2006, KCHC broke ground on a beautiful, new facility which has grown to include many new services. Patients and employees alike appreciate the diversity of services and providers available, the simple, easy to navigate floor plan as well as the convenient parking.
