We hosted our annual ALS Day with UIHC residents/medical students.

We toured farms where we learned about safety when working animals or injuries they may encounter in patients involved in farming accidents They were able to see how big and unpredictable livestock and equipment can be.

We shopped at Delta Grocery (Dixie’s) and found many treasures and snacks. I don’t know anyone that loves their job and community more than Dixie. Shes been serving the community for 60 years!!

Exceptional Edge hosted us for lunch provided by KCHC and industrial tools/equpiment demonstrations. We saw many different saws, torch, welder and various equipment.

We toured KCHC and explained how our critical hospital operates and all the services we have to offer!

Double Deuce provided our transportation for the day!

Thank you to everyone involved to make this day happen!!

What an honor to host an event of this caliber.

As of yesterday, Agape Shoppe in Sigourney, Iowa is officially a naloxone distributor! 💙

This nonprofit already provides clothing and household goods at no cost— no questions asked— and now, thanks to a partnership between UI ARC and the Sigourney Ministerial Alliance, free naloxone is available for pickup too.

We had our Annual EMS Saturday this past weekend. We learned about responder burnout from our very first UIHC fellow, Dr. Georgakakos. Then we had our very own Erin Orne, pharmacist speak on pharmaceuticals. To round out the day our Medical Director, Dr. Steen spoke on trauma/hemorrhage control and burns!

Thank you presenters and responders for attending!

Dress in layers and limit your time outside!

A colder push of Arctic air will arrive later today and tonight. This will result in overnight low temperatures of 10 below to 20 below zero. These temperatures combined with west to northwest winds of 5 to 15 mph will result in dangerously cold wind chills of 25 below to 38 below later tonight into Tuesday morning. For this reason, Extreme Cold Warnings and Cold Weather Advisories are in effect for much of Iowa through Tuesday morning.
