Jaco Booyens Ministries Responds to U.S. Supreme Court Decision in Chiles v. Salazar
March 31, 2026
Jaco Booyens, Founder of Jaco Booyens Ministries (JBM), issued the following statement in response to today’s U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Chiles v. Salazar:
“Today’s decision is a significant moment in the ongoing conversation about truth, freedom, and the role of government in the lives of individuals. The Supreme Court has recognized that ‘talk therapy’ is not merely conduct to be controlled, but speech that may be protected under the First Amendment.
While Colorado’s law remains in place for now, this ruling raises the constitutional standard the state must meet to justify restricting what counselors can say. That matters deeply, for professionals, for families, and for individuals seeking clarity, healing, and direction.
At Jaco Booyens Ministries, our work is grounded in the belief that every person is created by God with inherent dignity, purpose, and worth. We serve survivors of trafficking, exploitation, and coercive control, and we have seen firsthand how true healing requires both truth and freedom, never coercion, and never silence.
We believe that God is not the author of confusion, but of restoration. Individuals should be free to seek counsel that aligns with their convictions, their faith, and their pursuit of wholeness.
This decision reinforces a critical principle: the government must exercise great caution when entering spaces that involve personal belief, identity, and spiritual guidance. As this case returns to the lower courts, we will continue to advocate for policies that protect vulnerable individuals while preserving the God-given freedoms that make healing and transformation possible.”
