FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Jaco Booyens Ministries Responds to U.S. Supreme Court Decision in Chiles v. Salazar

March 31, 2026

Jaco Booyens, Founder of Jaco Booyens Ministries (JBM), issued the following statement in response to today’s U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Chiles v. Salazar:

“Today’s decision is a significant moment in the ongoing conversation about truth, freedom, and the role of government in the lives of individuals. The Supreme Court has recognized that ‘talk therapy’ is not merely conduct to be controlled, but speech that may be protected under the First Amendment.

While Colorado’s law remains in place for now, this ruling raises the constitutional standard the state must meet to justify restricting what counselors can say. That matters deeply, for professionals, for families, and for individuals seeking clarity, healing, and direction.

At Jaco Booyens Ministries, our work is grounded in the belief that every person is created by God with inherent dignity, purpose, and worth. We serve survivors of trafficking, exploitation, and coercive control, and we have seen firsthand how true healing requires both truth and freedom, never coercion, and never silence.

We believe that God is not the author of confusion, but of restoration. Individuals should be free to seek counsel that aligns with their convictions, their faith, and their pursuit of wholeness.

This decision reinforces a critical principle: the government must exercise great caution when entering spaces that involve personal belief, identity, and spiritual guidance. As this case returns to the lower courts, we will continue to advocate for policies that protect vulnerable individuals while preserving the God-given freedoms that make healing and transformation possible.”

Your safety matters to God. Full stop. We’ve misquoted Scripture to protect reputations instead of protecting people. And it’s time someone said it out loud.

The Malachi 2 passage that is so often quoted as “God hates divorce,” is actually saying that God hates when a husband is treacherous and unfaithful to his wife. Hates it. He hates when you are being treated with cruelty and indifference. He hates it when you’re struggling financially because of your husband’s sin. He sees your situation and he hates it.

When a covenant becomes a cover for cruelty, the problem isn’t the woman who leaves. The problem is the harm being done under the guise of biblical marriage.

God’s heart is never aligned with oppression.

He doesn’t value the institution of marriage more than He values His daughters. He doesn’t ask you to endure abuse to preserve an image of godliness.

If you’ve been told that staying in an abusive marriage honors God more than seeking safety, that’s not biblical truth. That’s spiritual manipulation.

God sees what’s happening behind closed doors. And His heart breaks for you, not because you’re considering divorce, but because you’ve been harmed in a relationship that was supposed to reflect His love.

Four years.
Over 125 lives served.
Countless prayers answered.

When I opened Rhema Counseling and Wellness, I simply wanted to be obedient to the call of God on my life to help people find freedom and healing.

I am deeply grateful for each client who has entrusted me to walk with them on their journey. What I’ve witnessed in these four years has been nothing less than sacred.

I have truly enjoyed watching God work-in the lives of my clients and the way He has grown and sanctified me.

Apart from Him, I can do nothing.

Thank you to everyone who has supported, referred, prayed, and encouraged me along the way.

The best is still ahead. 🤍

“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.”

Renewing the mind, as described in Romans 12:2, is not just a spiritual transformation—it’s also a physiological one. When we intentionally change the way we think, we rewire our brains by forming new neural pathways through the process of neuroplasticity.

Every thought activates neurons, forming connections in the brain. The more a thought is repeated, the stronger that pathway becomes—like a well-worn trail in a forest. Negative thoughts (fear, doubt, anxiety) create deep pathways that make those thoughts automatic.

When we meditate on God's truth instead of fear or lies, we start building new neural connections. Over time, as God’s Word is reinforced, the new pathways become the default, while old, negative pathways weaken.
This is why Scripture tells us to take every thought captive (2 Corinthians 10:5) and replace it with truth.

To renew and rewire our minds we must identify our negative thought patterns, release them to the Lord, and then ask Him for His truth as a replacement. Through repetition and consistency, worship and gratitude, and the support of community we can live in the light of God's truth, free from the lies of the enemy.

What's one truth God is speaking to you? Tell us in the comments!
