✨ ⏰ THROWBACK THURSDAY: Susie ⏰ ✨
Susie’s story is one that feels deeply rooted in home, heart, and hard work. 💛 Born in Springfield, Missouri, and raised right here in Siloam Springs, she grew up in this very neighborhood!
She graduated from Siloam Springs High School in 1964, but her connection to our community started even earlier. As a young girl, Susie was paid by the very man who built our facility to pick up trash after the carpenters.
Susie attended the University of Arkansas with plans to become a teacher. While life took her down a slightly different path, she still followed her passion for working with children and taught early childhood education along the way.
She had quite the entrepreneurial spirit too—opening her own restaurant, Dogwood Inn, where she became known for her homemade bread, chicken salad sandwiches, and warm, welcoming atmosphere. For Susie, it wasn’t just about the food—it was about the people. She says what she loved most was serving lunch every day and watching her customers become like family. 🥪🍞
Beyond the kitchen, Susie has many talents. She has a creative eye for interior decorating. She also spent time as a Girl Scout troop leader, pouring into the next generation.
And her advice to the younger generation:
“Life changes so much so fast, be a kid while you can.”
We are so lucky to have Susie as part of our family. Her story is a beautiful reminder of how much love, creativity, and connection one life can hold. ✨
