Earlier this week, MIH Director of Housing Support Services Lauren Silverstone and Director of Housing Ahmna Khan presented to the Coordination of Community Services team at the Montgomery County Health and Human Services - MD. Lauren provided an overview of MIH’s mission, highlighted its Housing Support Services, and shared information on a range of affordable housing programs available throughout Montgomery County. Ahmna spoke about MIH’s housing committees, current challenges and barriers, and the organization’s developer model.

Last week, our Eastern Shore Housing Committee met in person at Doverbrook Apartments in the Town of Easton to talk through ongoing barriers to affordable housing for people with disabilities. The group expressed strong interest in building a more localized partnership in Easton, and we’re excited about the opportunity for MIH and Fello to be part of the next steps.

MIH is offering virtual five-session, DDA-approved and waiver-required training in Housing Support Services (HSS), starting April 16 and provided by housing support services expert Lauren Silverstone, Director of HSS at MIH. This comprehensive and uniquely tailored program gives Housing Support Services workers the knowledge and credentials stipulated by DDA to help individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities obtain and maintain accessible and affordable housing of their choice.
