Spina bifida is a condition in which a baby’s spine does not close completely during embryonic development. There are different types of spina bifida, ranging in severity. Some babies may require surgery after birth, while others may need ongoing care and support.
An ultrasound performed between 18–20 weeks of pregnancy can be used as a screening tool to check for signs of this condition.
At Strength In You OBGYN, we offer in-office ultrasounds to help detect and monitor spina bifida during pregnancy.
