Macena, a published author and participant in SEEC’s Self-Employment Program, is working with program lead Jacqueline Neal to pursue her dream of becoming a sought-after speaker. She brought that perspective to a learning session she led for 25 teachers and administrators at New Hope Academy. Macena presented approaches that can support students with IDD and promote advocacy that benefits the whole school community. Teachers left inspired, equipped with new tools, and energized by activities like the “Pass the Ball” game that made inclusion tangible and fun. Kyra Harvey, SEEC's Instructional and Resource Specialist, represented from an organizational perspective explaining person-centered language, ableism, and offering additional resources.
