Most women I see have already been told everything is “normal.”

Normal labs and hormones, but nothing to worry about.

But they do not feel normal, this is where things get missed.

Here is what is actually happening in many cases:
1️⃣ Estrogen is not being looked at in context.
It is not just about whether it is high or low. It is about how it is balanced with progesterone and how your body is responding to it.

2️⃣ Symptoms are more important than a single lab value.
If you have multiple symptoms, your body is giving you useful information, even if your labs look “fine.”

3️⃣ Metabolism plays a major role in hormone balance.
If insulin and blood sugar are off, oestrogen is affected.

4️⃣ The same symptom can come from different imbalances.
Weight gain, fatigue, and mood changes can show up in both high and low oestrogen states.

5️⃣ Most women are never shown the full picture.
They are given partial answers and expected to figure the rest out.

This is why so many women feel stuck.

You are not imagining your symptoms, you are missing a strategy that connects everything together.

If this sounds like you and you are not getting clear answers, comment ATHENA and we will help you figure out what is actually going on ⬇️

Nobody questions these things because we have been told they are normal our entire lives. But normal does not mean harmless.

Here is what is actually happening:

1. Birth control suppresses hormone production and depletes key nutrients
2. Low fat diets remove the building blocks hormones are made from
3. Normal lab results are not the same as optimal ones
4. Unfiltered tap water contains chlorine and traces of synthetic estrogens
5. Synthetic contraception from a young age alters how your body produces its own hormones
6. Chronic cardio without resistance training elevates cortisol and accelerates muscle loss
7. Antidepressants prescribed for hormonal symptoms treat the signal not the cause
8. Six hours of sleep disrupts every hormonal axis in the female body
9. Non-stick cookware contains endocrine disrupting chemicals that accumulate over time
10. Being told your symptoms are just aging stops women from asking the right questions 💡

None of this is your fault. But now that you know, you get to make different choices.

The first step to fixing your health is understanding what has been working against it. Comment ATHENA for a free consultation call ⬇️

Menopause Myth-Buster: Vaginal Estrogen??⁣

Painful s*x, va**nal dryness, recurrent UTIs, urinary urgency, burning, and irritation are not “just aging.” They are often signs of genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM) caused by estrogen loss in the va**nal and urinary tissues.⁣

Why transva**nal estrogen matters⁣

Vaginal estrogen can help:⁣

✅ Restore va**nal tissue thickness and elasticity ✅ Improve lubrication⁣
✅ Reduce pain with in*******se ✅ Lower recurrent UTI risk⁣

Key point: low-dose va**nal estrogen is local therapy. It is not the same as systemic hormone therapy. Blood levels remain low, and major studies have not shown increased risk of cardiovascular disease, breast cancer, endometrial cancer, or blood clots in typical postmenopausal users.⁣

The North American Menopause Society states that low-dose va**nal estrogen is recommended for bothersome GSM symptoms and that no progestogen is needed when low-dose va**nal estrogen is used alone.⁣

Even ACOG notes that va**nal estrogen may be considered in many breast cancer survivors through shared decision-making with their oncology team.⁣

Bottom line: Women are told to tolerate too much.⁣

Dryness is not vanity. Painful s*x is not normal. Recurrent UTIs are not a personality flaw.⁣

Vaginal estrogen is one of the most effective, well-studied, and underused tools in menopause care. Your va**na did not expire. It lost estrogen.⁣

This is something I feel strongly about, and I say it often in practice.

Depression is a diagnosis. Hormonal depletion is a lab result. They are not the same thing, and treating one when the other is the cause does real harm.

Estrogen directly regulates serotonin and dopamine. When it drops, your brain's ability to produce these chemicals drops with it. Progesterone has a calming effect on the nervous system. When it is low, anxiety and sleep disruption follow. Testosterone drives motivation and mental clarity in women. When it disappears, so does the version of yourself you recognize 💡

None of this gets picked up on a depression questionnaire. None of it gets investigated when a prescription is the path of least resistance.

If nobody has ever run a full hormone panel before reaching for a prescription pad, the job has not been done properly.

You deserve a complete picture. Not just the easiest answer.

If you’ve ever left a doctor feeling dismissed… you’re not imagining it.

Women are often told symptoms are “normal” or “just stress,” not because doctors don’t care, but because the system wasn’t built for female health.

That’s medical gaslighting, and it leaves too many women unheard.

Try this in your next appointment:
“How I feel has changed my life. Why is this happening now when it wasn’t before?”

You don’t need to fight, just show up informed and ready to advocate.

🤖🩺 AI Is Useful… But It’s Not Your Doctor⁣

AI can summarize, suggest, and even sound confident but confidence ≠ correctness. Using AI to self-diagnose or self-treat complex conditions is risky. And I have seen the issues.⁣

⚠️ What AI Can’t Do⁣

❌ No physical exam — it can’t see, touch, or test⁣
❌ No full context — your history, meds, labs, and lifestyle matter⁣
❌ No accountability — no follow-up, no liability⁣
❌ Pattern bias — it predicts likely general answers, not your answer⁣

🚫 Where Things Go Wrong⁣

• Missed diagnoses, • Dangerous supplement/medication combos⁣
• Over- or under-treatment based on incomplete info, • False reassurance— unnecessary panic⁣

AI is trained on data, not your body. It doesn’t manage nuance, risk stratification, or evolving symptoms over time. It is especially inconsistent with medical issues affecting women. Worse, using AI-recommended online sources for medications can lead to further complications. ⁣

💡 The Right Way to Use AI⁣

✅ Learn concepts ✅ Prepare smarter questions ✅ Understand options⁣

Then take it to a qualified clinician who can examine, test, interpret, and personalize.⁣

🧠 Bottom Line⁣

AI is a tool—not a treatment plan. Your health deserves expertise, context, and accountability.⁣

💬 Drop a 🤖 if you’ve used AI for health questions—and a 🩺 if you trust real clinical care.⁣

Getting labs done is step one. Knowing how to interpret them for women’s bodies is where most systems fail.

Too many women are told, “everything’s normal”…
while feeling exhausted, inflamed, gaining weight, and not like themselves.

Here’s the truth:

✅ “Normal” isn’t optimal
✅ Reference ranges aren’t built for midlife women
✅ Hormones impact everything: lipids, insulin, iron, and inflammation

What you actually need:

- A provider who looks at the full picture
- Advanced markers like hs-CRP, ferritin, and hormone panels
- A personalized plan tailored to YOU

I have been in medicine long enough to know which battles are worth fighting. These are mine.

Women are not small men. Treating them like they are is not just lazy medicine. It is dangerous medicine.

A normal lab result is not the same as an optimal one. Most women are being managed at a level that keeps them just functional enough to stop complaining.

Testosterone is not a male hormone. It is critical for women's energy, brain function, libido, and bone density, and it is rarely tested without her specifically asking for it.

The fear around HRT is rooted in a study that has been fundamentally challenged for over two decades. Millions of women have suffered unnecessarily because medicine was too slow to update its position 💡

And antidepressants should never be the first answer when a woman walks in with hormonal symptoms. Test the hormones first. Always.

These are not radical opinions. They are basic sciences. And women deserve doctors who know the difference.

You were not designed to feel this way. Your hormones were. Comment ATHENA for a free consultation call ⬇️

Most women go quiet when a doctor dismisses them. I understand why. But you do not have to.

Your symptoms are data. And data deserves investigation.

The next time you feel yourself shrinking in that office, here is what to say:

"I would like a full hormone panel, please, not just TSH." Standard panels miss free testosterone, progesterone, DHEA, cortisol, and fasting insulin. Ask for them by name.

"Can you tell me what optimal looks like for these results, not just normal?" Normal is a population average that includes people who are also symptomatic. A good doctor will know the difference 💡

"I would like a second opinion." You are entitled to one. No explanation required. No apology needed.

You have spent long enough being told you are fine when you know you are not.

Your symptoms are real. Your pain is real. And you deserve a doctor who takes both seriously. Comment ATHENA for a free consultation call ⬇️

If you have been eating less and still not losing weight, this is for you.

Your body has a response to under eating and it is not fat loss. It is survival mode. Thyroid output slows. Cortisol rises. Progesterone drops. Your metabolism adapts by holding onto everything it receives.

The signs are there if you know what to look for:

1. Exhausted even after a full night of sleep
2. Hair thinning or falling out more than usual
3. Feeling cold when others are comfortable
4. Mood that is consistently flat and nothing lifts it
5. Losing muscle despite exercising regularly
6. Digestion that has noticeably slowed
7. Brain fog that settles in by mid afternoon
8. Wired and depleted at the same time
9. Irregular or disappearing periods
10. Weight that will not move no matter how little you eat 💡

These are not random symptoms. They are your body communicating that it is not getting what it needs.

The answer has never been less food. It is the right food for where your hormones actually are. Comment ATHENA for a free consultation call ⬇️

Most women never connect this habit to their hormones. But it is one of the first things I look at in practice.

A glass of wine at night feels harmless. For a lot of women it is the one thing they hold onto after a long day. But here is what it is quietly doing to your estrogen.

Your liver clears excess estrogen from your body. Alcohol is processed by that same liver. When it is busy breaking down alcohol, estrogen clearance gets deprioritised. On top of that it raises cortisol, disrupts deep sleep and depletes the magnesium your body needs to produce hormones in the first place.

None of this means you can never have a drink. It means that if you are struggling with hormonal symptoms and drinking regularly, your body is trying to tell you something 💡

The goal is not perfection. The goal is awareness.

What you put in your body every day is either supporting your hormones or working against them. Comment ATHENA for a free consultation call ⬇️

Think of it like insulin for diabetes: it doesn’t erase the condition, but it helps you function, feel well, and avoid long-term complications.

HRT replaces what’s naturally declining: estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone, to ease symptoms like sleep issues, hot flashes, bone loss, and brain fog.

But more importantly… it protects your future.

This isn’t about reversing aging. It’s about aging with strength, clarity, and dignity.

Comment ATHENA for a free phone consult, I’ll help you decide if HRT is the right step for you.
