The term King Tide is used to describe an extremely high tide. Ordinary tides are caused by the gravitational pull between the Earth and the moon. King tides occur when the orbits and alignment of the Earth, moon, and sun combine to produce the greatest tidal effects of the year. These tides can create a greater risk for flooding. Follow our posts this week for more tips on how to stay prepared for flooding. More at: kcowa.us/flooding
