This is the sacred turning of the year, the time when people have long paused to honor those who came before:
🍂 Samhain, the Celtic new year, when hearth fires were lit and ancestors were invited to gather once more around the table.
💐 Día de los Mu***os, when families fill altars with marigolds, sweet bread, and photographs, celebrating the joyful continuity of life and love.
🕯️ All Souls’ Day (Christian tradition), Chuseok (South Korea), Dziady (Slavic folk tradition), and countless other remembrance traditions all honor that love does not end at death.
This is a time to remember the great cycles of life, death, and renewal that weave through all things.
You might wish to mark this passage by:
Lighting a candle and saying aloud the names of those you miss.
Walking in nature and listening for what the Earth herself is releasing and transforming.
Writing a letter of gratitude to your ancestors, teachers, or elders.
Let this be a time of communion, remembering that we are part of a great lineage of love, courage, and creativity that continues through us.
May your remembering be gentle.
May your grief be honored.
May your heart be warmed by the love that still holds you.
