Every couple knows that moment — when you’re both convinced you’re right, yet somehow seeing the same experience in totally different ways.

What if understanding doesn’t come from winning the argument, but from *crossing the bridge* to see your partner’s world?

When you and your partner see things differently, it can feel like you’re living in separate worlds. This post introduces a simple, visual way to reconnect — a bridge that helps you understand your partner’s experience without losing your own.

❤️ Want to feel more connected in your relationship? ❤️

Sometimes the smallest daily habits can create the biggest shifts. That’s why I created: Appreciation Journal for Couples: A 30-Day Practice for Noticing What’s Good, Together.

📖 See it here on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FN83N2H8

This journal grew out of a daily rhythm my partner and I began in our own relationship: exchanging one appreciation with each other, and also naming something that was great about our day — along with what we did to contribute to it being great. Over time, this simple practice changed how we saw one another and how we noticed goodness in daily life.

✨ Inside, you’ll find:

**Short quotes to spark reflection
**Space for each partner to share an appreciation and one highlight from their day
**Playful stories and reflections on how gratitude reshapes the brain

It’s a simple, heartfelt way for couples to build connection and keep love alive in everyday moments.

Most conflicts don’t blow up because of what we’re arguing about—they spiral because of the habits we fall into when we’re upset.

The good news? Habits can change.

Here’s one small shift that’s been making a big difference for me (and the science behind why it works).

Conflict often runs on habit—but even small shifts in how we respond can open the door to healing and connection.

Are you training your brain to notice what's good—or just reacting to what's hard?

In our relationship, we’ve found that daily appreciations actually change what we notice—not just in each other, but in the day itself.

Lately, I’ve caught myself thinking things like, “That was a sweet moment—I want to remember to share it tonight.” And it turns out, there’s a reason for that: our brains are pattern spotters. The more we intentionally look for what’s going well, the more our brain starts to highlight those moments for us—automatically.

We're not trying to ignore the hard stuff. We're just creating a stronger, more resilient foundation for facing it.

A simple daily habit helped us feel more connected—and even made conflict easier. Here’s why appreciation is more than just nice.

Ever create a totally plausible story in your head about what’s going on with your partner—only to realize you might’ve missed part of the picture?

You’re not alone. One simple phrase can help shift these moments toward connection instead of confusion or conflict.

We all tell ourselves stories in moments of disconnection—about what our partner’s silence means, or why that look felt sharp. Often, those stories are shaped more by past experiences than present reality. That’s why one simple phrase—“The story I have in my head about this is…”—can ...

Do your conversations with your partner sometimes feel stuck—or just miss the mark?

It's not just you! Even with the best intentions, many couples fall into patterns where real understanding gets lost.

In my latest blog, I’m sharing a powerful communication tool that helps partners slow down, get curious, and really listen in a new way. It’s a small shift—but it can lead to a big difference in how you connect.

❣️ PS: There are 2 open spots in the May 16–18 couples workshop. If you’re ready to deepen connection, or know someone who might be, details are in the comments.

Ever feel like you’re stuck having the same argument on repeat? 😒

Or like your partner just doesn’t get you—even when you’re trying your best to explain?

You’re not alone.

In fact, these patterns are more common (and more changeable) than most of us realize.

✨ My latest blog post offers a behind-the-scenes peek at the Getting the Love You Want weekend couples workshop—a space designed to help you reconnect, communicate differently, and feel like a team again.

💬 Inside the post:
– Why conflict is normal (and how Imago helps make sense of it)
– The Relationship Journey most couples cycle through
– One playful, practical activity to try at home today

💛 Whether you’re feeling stuck—or just want to grow together—this is a warm, grounded invitation to do something different.

📅 Our next workshop is May 16–18, 2025 in Summit County, Colorado.
Early bird pricing ends April 15—and we’re keeping it intimate with just 4 couples (2 spots left).

Feel free to share it with someone who might love this too.

Before diving into this relationship, therapy—or something like a workshop for couples—wasn’t really on my radar. I’ve spent most of my life outdoors, being active. Whether it’s skiing, mountain biking, dirt biking, or playing hockey, that’s where I feel at home. So, going to a couples w...
