Help Us Save Our Pharmacy!
As you know, we’ve been proud to serve this community for many years—but like many independent pharmacies across the state, we are in crisis. I'm writing to ask you to support a bill in the Oregon Legislature, HB 3212, that will help us keep our doors open and continue providing essential health services to Silverton community.
Community pharmacies like ours are disappearing, leaving too many Oregonians without access to vital medications, vaccinations, and health care services. Since 2008, hundreds of Oregon pharmacies have closed, and pharmacy deserts are growing at an alarming rate.
One of the main culprits: Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs) and insurance companies. PBMs are unregulated middlemen that set drug prices. For years, they’ve imposed unfair, “take-it-or-leave-it” contracts that often force us to fill prescriptions at a financial loss. While PBMs are supposed to negotiate better deals for patients, they’ve instead prioritized profits—driving up costs, limiting access to care, and pushing independent pharmacies out of business.
We have a chance to change this. HB 3212 will hold PBMs accountable, ensure fair pharmacy reimbursement, and protect patient choice. Passing this bill will help save Oregon’s community pharmacies—but we need your help.
Here’s how you can support HB 3212:
• The Oregon State Pharmacy Association is working with Hilltop Public Solutions to gather letters of support for the bill. We can provide you with a personalized draft letter and help you submit it to legislators quickly and easily or click the link
