OPEN ENROLLMENT IS AROUND THE CORNER!

If I could give my (or another pharmacy's) patients just one piece of advice, it would be to discuss with the pharmacy you wish you use as to which plan is best for you.

We have dozens of examples we can give of people enrolling in a plan they later regret because they were shuffled out of town, or into a plan that was not the best for them at the pharmacy they wanted to use.

The same would go for the hospital/clinic you want to use. It is a FAR better option to discuss with the provider as to which plan is best for you, than any other available option.

That being said, most of you will notice that premiums have risen dramatically for virtually all plans. This is mainly to offset the new '2000 dollar out of pocket maximum'. So if you notice dramatically increased premiums and deductibles, this is a function of the new Medicare law from the Inflation Reduction Act, not anything to do with the pharmacy or other providers.

PSA: It has come to our attention that patients are getting phone calls from their insurance companies and being told they 'must' use mail order, or some other pharmacy other than ours.

There is no other way to put it other than that these are just flat out lies. It is incorrect, it is not true. These insurance companies are illegally steering patients to mail order pharmacies that they own themselves.

Please speak to someone at the pharmacy before going to big box or mail order as a result of one of these calls. If someone other than the pharmacy themselves tells you that you cannot use your insurance, there is an extremely high chance that it is a false statement.
