We have completed a few virtual visits now and are still working out the glitches. Here is our preferred flow for virtual visits:
1) Call our office and schedule a virtual visit
2) A few minutes before the scheduled time, log on to the website doxy.me/hopefam. The web browsers Google Chrome or Firefox are preferred. This can be done on your smartphone or any computer with a camera and microphone. If possible, use your smartphone.
3) You will enter a virtual waiting room and the visit will start around the scheduled time. I will also post the link to our website http://hopefamilymedicineonline.com. Just like real life, we may run a few minutes behind your virtually scheduled appointment, so please be patient.

I also wanted to clarify that our office is not closed in the afternoons…we are simply reserving afternoons for virtual visits. We won’t be fully staffed in the afternoons, and so we prefer people to stop by in the mornings (if medically necessary). We want to keep our patients out of urgent cares and the Emergency room as much as possible!

To all our patients:
In an effort to contain coronavirus, we will start offering virtual visits. We advise social distancing measures and only going out in public when necessary. This pertains to all people…not only patients with high risk conditions. If you currently have a wellness exam scheduled in the next month, you will be getting a call from us with an option to reschedule. Some medical care is best in-person and we will be fully staffed and open for regular patient care in the mornings. Every afternoon, we will close our doors but be available for virtual visit appointments. We will have a medical assistant available all day long to triage and answer questions.

Virtual visits are new to our practice, and so be patient as we learn the ropes. Your insurance will be billed in the same manner as an in-person visit. However, many insurance plans are currently waiving virtual visit copays. We advise you check with your insurance carrier for virtual visit coverage.

That being said, we will be on vacation next week March 23rd-27th. This was planned months in advance and we decided not to cancel our family time together (although now doing a staycation). We will have a medical assistant answering phone calls every afternoon those days.

Coronavirus is spreading fast and we believe there are multiple cases in Silverton currently. The only reason the cases are low in Oregon is that we aren’t testing for it. If you have any cold symptoms, please stay home. Coronavirus can appear like a mild cold for many people, but can be deadly for higher risk people. Let’s all do our part to protect each other.
