Dr Orr is correct. The system is burning out and turning away primary care physicians. Primary care is best when you are cared for by your own provider, with whom you have a trusted relationship. Higher insurance premiums with huge deductibles and copays, and limited amount of access due to lack of providers, make healthcare unusable for many patients.
This is why almost 6 years ago, I left the system after 20 years, to open Township Health DPC in downtown Silverton.
Direct primary care eliminates all the issues with the system for our practice. We work outside of the system but help patients use their insurance when they need it.
