Gou Qi Zi or Goji Berries.

Add 1/2-1 tablespoon to your porridge or tea each day as an offering to your liver. Try that for 2 weeks and see how you feel. Feeling good?

You don’t need to eat goji berries for the rest of your life, but sometimes we do need them for a season- a season of the year or a season of our lives.

Best practice is to find a Chinese Medical Herbalist to help you out, but in the meantime- add some goji berries to your life!

The bright brilliance of the dandelion is a helpful companion for the skin- redness, stagnation in the lymph, and the ache of winter- all these symptoms respond to this beautiful oil.

So grateful each spring to be able to make this oil for use in the clinic.

The earthy aroma is worth the benefits!

Chinese herbalism and acupuncture work alongside primary care physicians, naturopaths, nurse practitioners, midwives, OB/GYN’s, and physician assistants to help people make informed decisions about their healthcare. It’s about collaboration!

I’m really grateful for hormone therapy. If that’s an option you want to explore as part of your healthcare, let’s get you connected to the right providers.

We are nearing the midpoint of spring! The greens are really starting to pop. The reservoir has had the most beautiful blue-green color lately. The nettles are looking yummy, and so many other herbs are showing their spring green radiance.

🌿 This green-blue color is the color of spring, the color associated with the liver, and it’s so beautiful and inspiring.

🌱Growth, expansion, tenderness.

The spring time of year is associated with the liver. This makes it a great time of year to cleanse and refresh our bodies! The body is naturally opening the blood, body fluids and qi that were stored during the winter, so we can lean into that process of opening and cleansing.

There are ways to live in harmony with our bodies and natures rhythms if we learn to listen. Through the medical system of Chinese Medicine we learn to experience ourselves as part of nature. We see ourselves as whole, as part of a greater ebb and flow of life. AND we learn very practical ways to LIVE in accordance with our nature.

Come on in and see what your liver has to say to you! Acupuncturists are great interpreters if you need help.

Meet Kali!

Kali is one of White Oaks front desk wizards. She keeps the clinic flowing with a feisty friendly energy, she keeps it real! Kali has been working with WOW for over a decade, and she is a deeply caring human being who is willing to help. She is incredibly creative! Did you know that she’s an amazing artist??? She also loves herbs and gardening and making kitchari.

If you’ve taken herbs prescribed at White Oak, drank tea in the shop, or bought some vitamin C, it was Kali who facilitated it all. She orders all the products and supplies that keep the gears turning inside and out.

Give her a shout out next time you’re in the clinic!

If you’re looking for a good food based “multivitamin,” this is our recommendation.

This is a great supplement for nearly all ages. It’s very easy to digest and with the hearty dose of Vit A, it’s great for strengthening the bodies first barrier, the mucosal membranes of the nose and throat.

Teens are usually pretty good about taking this supplement, and they are rarely getting enough veggies and fruits!

Spring is springing here in the Willamette Valley.

Prepare yourself this week for Daylight Savings to start on Sunday. Each day, set your alarms back by 10 minutes. It will make the change less intense…… maybe?

It’s actually a big transition to change sleep, meals and all our other routines by an hour all of the sudden. Stay hydrated, eat well and maybe go to bed early ✨

The daffodils always find a way to adapt to the spring rains, droughts, and winds. We can learn from them!
