# **Grace and Grit: Bearing Burdens and Sowing Faith**
# # # **A 20-Minute Bible Study for Men**

# # # **Scripture: Galatians 6:1-10 (ESV)**
> **1** Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted.
> **2** Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
> **3** For if anyone thinks he is something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself.
> **4** But let each one test his own work, and then his reason to boast will be in himself alone and not in his neighbor.
> **5** For each will have to bear his own load.
> **6** Let the one who is taught the word share all good things with the one who teaches.
> **7** Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.
> **8** For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.
> **9** And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
> **10** So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.

# # **Introduction (3 Minutes)**
Life as a man—whether as a husband, father, leader, or friend—is full of challenges. The world often tells us to be strong by carrying our burdens alone, but Scripture calls us to a different kind of strength: one that is rooted in brotherhood, restoration, and perseverance. Today, we’ll explore what it means to bear one another’s burdens, sow into the Spirit, and press on in doing good.

---

# # **1. Restoring a Brother (Galatians 6:1) – (5 Minutes)**
Paul calls us to restore those who stumble in sin with a **spirit of gentleness**.
# # # **Discussion Questions:**
- How do you normally react when you see a friend struggling with sin?
- What does it mean to restore someone gently rather than with judgment?
- How can we guard our own hearts while helping others?

# # # **Application:**
Being a spiritual leader in your home or community means standing firm in truth **and** showing grace. Think about someone in your life who may need encouragement. How can you restore them with gentleness this week?

---

# # **2. Bearing Burdens vs. Carrying Loads (Galatians 6:2-5) – (5 Minutes)**
Paul tells us to "bear one another’s burdens" (v.2) while also saying "each will have to bear his own load" (v.5). This isn’t a contradiction—it’s a call to **support one another** while also taking responsibility for our own faith.

# # # **Discussion Questions:**
- What’s the difference between helping someone carry their burden and enabling them?
- How can we encourage other men to open up about their struggles?
- Where in your life do you need help, but haven’t asked for it?

# # # **Application:**
God never designed us to walk alone. This week, check in on another man in your life—whether it’s a friend, coworker, or brother in Christ—and ask how you can pray for or support him.

---

# # **3. Sowing and Reaping (Galatians 6:7-10) – (5 Minutes)**
Paul warns us that we will reap what we sow. If we sow into sin and selfishness, we’ll reap destruction. But if we sow into the Spirit, we’ll reap eternal life.

# # # **Discussion Questions:**
- What are you sowing into your life daily—things of the flesh or things of the Spirit?
- What are some practical ways we can sow into the Spirit?
- How do we keep going when doing good feels exhausting?

# # # **Application:**
Doing good can be tiring, especially when we don’t see immediate results. But Paul reminds us: **do not give up!** Commit this week to sowing into the Spirit—whether through prayer, serving your family, or encouraging a friend.

---

# # **Closing Challenge (2 Minutes)**
Galatians 6:10 reminds us that we have an opportunity to do good, especially to our brothers in Christ. Take a moment to reflect:
- Who in your life needs encouragement?
- Where do you need to step up and take responsibility?
- How will you sow into the Spirit this week?

**Prayer:**
"Lord, help us to be men who bear each other’s burdens, restore with gentleness, and sow into the Spirit. Give us strength to keep doing good, even when we feel weary. Amen."

**Action Step:**
Before you leave today, text or call one man in your life and encourage him. Let’s build each other up as brothers in Christ!

This study challenges men to lead with grace and grit—supporting others, taking responsibility, and persevering in faith.

We can’t overcome sin on our own. Thankfully Christ died for us and he took upon our transgressions for Himself to make us right with God. Remain in Him and He will remain in us. And we can overcome anything with Him.

If you were not able to join us last night for our Bible study, this is a break down of it.

Here’s the updated Bible study outline with **New Living Translation (NLT)** Bible verses included:

---

# # # **Theme:** Contentment and Gratitude in All Circumstances
**Key Verse:** *"Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have."* — Philippians 4:11 (NLT)

---

# # # **Session 1: Learning to Be Content**
**Scripture Focus:** Philippians 4:10–13
*"How I praise the Lord that you are concerned about me again. I know you have always been concerned for me, but you didn’t have the chance to help me. Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength."*

- **Discussion:**
- How can we find contentment when life doesn't go as planned?
- Paul learned contentment through Christ's strength. What does that look like for us as dads?
- **Reflection:** Share moments when contentment felt hard to find.
- **Application:** List one way to shift focus from what’s missing to what you have.

---

# # # **Session 2: Gratitude in the Midst of Trials**
**Scripture Focus:** 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18
*"Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus."*

- **Discussion:**
- How can we “give thanks in all circumstances” without minimizing our struggles?
- How can gratitude reshape your view of parenting as a divorced dad?
- **Reflection:** Name one blessing in this season of life.
- **Application:** Start a gratitude journal, noting 3 things each day you’re thankful for.

---

# # # **Session 3: Trusting God’s Provision**
**Scripture Focus:** Matthew 6:25–34
*"That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?*
*"And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?*
*"So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today."*

- **Discussion:**
- What are your biggest worries as a dad?
- How does trusting God as a provider help ease those worries?
- **Reflection:** What would your life look like if you truly trusted God with your circumstances?
- **Application:** Pray specifically about one area where you need to trust God more.

---

# # # **Session 4: Finding Joy in the Present**
**Scripture Focus:** Psalm 16:11
*"You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever."*

- **Discussion:**
- What keeps you from fully embracing joy in your current season?
- How can focusing on God's presence bring you joy?
- **Reflection:** Share a recent moment of joy with your kids.
- **Application:** Plan an intentional activity with your children that brings joy.

---

# # # **Session 5: Using Your Story for God’s Glory**
**Scripture Focus:** Romans 8:28
*"And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them."*

- **Discussion:**
- How can God use your divorce and parenting journey for good?
- How can your story encourage others who are struggling?
- **Reflection:** Identify one way God has worked in your life through this experience.
- **Application:** Write a letter to yourself or another dad, sharing how God has been faithful.

---

**Closing Thought:** Contentment and gratitude are not feelings but choices we make daily, rooted in trust that God is enough for every season of life.

Ephesians 2:1-10 reminds men that they were once dead in sin but have been saved by God’s grace through faith, not by their works, so they cannot boast. As God’s handiwork, created in Christ, they are called to live with purpose and integrity, walking in the good works He has prepared for them. This passage encourages humility, gratitude, and a commitment to live out their faith by reflecting God’s grace in their actions.
