Your spine plays a vital role in keeping your body balanced and moving, but there’s more to it than just holding you up.
👉 The spine is the central support structure of your body connecting different parts of your musculoskeletal system. It helps you stand upright, bend, and twist.
👉 Motion is lotion! Regular movement, exercise, and therepeautic massage keep your spine and muscles flexible and strong, helping to prevent from stiffness, injury, and pain.
👉 As you age, your spine undergoes changes such as disc thinning and reduced flexibility. Regular chiropractic care and proper spinal motion and maintenance can help manage these changes.
👉 The spinal column houses and protects the spinal cord, which is an integral part of ypur central nervous system transmitting messages between your brain and body.
👉 The intervertebral discs that cushion your vertebrae rely on hydration to maintain their flexibility and strength. Staying well hydrated is crucial for spinal health!
👉 Your spine naturally has 4 curves: two primary and two secondary—although you are born with only one! An infant’s spine is a C-shape with everything curving inward in the fetal position. Your upper back and sacrum are your primary curves. Your cervial curve (neck) develops as an infant learns to hold their head up and turn it from side to side; the lumbar curve (lower back) develops as babies begin to crawl—it’s important to keep that milestone! These curves are important for supporting body weight and absorbing shock.
By understanding and caring for your spine, you can help ensure that it stays strong and healthy throughout your life. 😊
