Thank you for all of your comments, messages and well wishes since Macay joined our family. We were happy to finish serving our patients this week, but we are happy to now be officially closed for maternity leave and family time.

There will be someone in the office to help answer questions and schedule appointments during the following hours beginning the week of March 22 - May 6:

Tuesday - Thursday: 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM
Friday: 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM

If there is a dental emergency, please call the office. If not during office hours, an emergency number will be provided on the answering machine. Dr. Kaitlin will be available for emergency services for established, regular patients at Children's Dental Centre.

Thank you for allowing us to have a few weeks as a family soaking up this precious time together. It all goes so fast!

Dr. Kaitlin, Ryan, and big sister Dylan have some news! Macay Ryan was born yesterday, and we are excited to welcome Macay to the Children’s Dental Centre family. Thank you for your support as they spend time together transitioning to a family of 4! 💖

School is out for the summer! It is time to celebrate with a t-shirt giveaway. These bright, fun T's will be given out to patients beginning June 1 until they are gone. We love hearing about all of your summer plans and look forward to seeing you out and about sporting your Children's Dental Centre shirt. Happy summer-ing!

We’ve added something new- report cards! A lot of information at once is hard to remember especially for more than one kid so we want to help you out. Beginning this week, each child will get a ‘report card’ after their visit with a few quick facts about their brushing, their loose and new teeth, and how we can keep their smile healthy. When we see you next, let us know if you like the report cards. We are always open to fun, new ideas!

Happy Monday! We have been busy rescheduling appointments over the last week. We are working our way through the schedule starting way back in March. Can you believe it’s been 2 months? We can’t either! If you have not heard from us yet, we will be calling. If you have a message from us or a concern before we call you, please give us a call. Enjoy the day! 🦷 😃

We will be open this week! We can’t wait to see you all again and hear about everyone’s quarantine adventures at home through the eyes of the kiddos. With all of the guidelines in place, things will look a little bit different for the foreseeable future. We will be doing pre-appointment screenings by phone 24-48 hours before your appointment. We will then give you further instructions on what to expect when you arrive.

We are trying our best to keep things as ‘normal’ as possible for our little patients, but please understand that some of the new guidelines do not allow for any wiggle room such as our new ‘uniforms.’ Please show your kiddos a picture so they know what to expect with our new ‘astronaut’ costumes. If you have any questions. Please ask them. This is a transition for all of us, and while we understand the importance of it all, it does come with a new set of challenges for both our office and our patients.

UPDATE: As I'm sure you all saw, Governor Reynolds is allowing dental offices to open tomorrow- May 8 as long as that office is in compliance with the Iowa Dental Board's Guidelines for the Safe Transition Back to Practice, which came out on Tuesday, May 5. While we understand that we are allowed to be open, we are choosing to remain closed for all elective procedures until Monday, May 18, as originally planned. We are working to get our 'ducks in a row' and make sure that we have all protective measures in place for both our staff and YOU.

When we do open, we will look more like storm troopers than we used to and we will be taking more precautionary measures in order to safely serve you all. LOOK for a post in the next week about our new gear and what you can expect when we see you this Summer.

We are busy calling everyone who we missed during this pandemic, and we are excited to see you again!

COVID-19 Update:
Yesterday, March 26, 2020- Governor Reynolds issued a proclamation mandating all non-emergent dental services be postponed through April 30, 2020. The proclamation does permit emergency dental services to still be performed. The goal of this suspension of dental services is to help preserve personal protective equipment (PPE), such as masks, for the medical community that is in desperate need of them while they continue to work in hospital and clinics.

Dr. Kaitlin is following the 'stay at home' recommendations but is available should your child have a dental emergency. The governor and Iowa Dental Board have deemed dental emergencies as pain, swelling, or trauma to try to limit exposure and use of PPE. Please call our office if you have an emergency and follow the prompts on the answering machine.

We miss seeing our patients and hearing stories about their days, but we also understand the importance and need for the governor's proclamation. We remain dedicated to your child's dental health even though we have to take a step back for the health and well-being of our community. If your child has an appointment scheduled during the closure time, we will be contacting you to make sure you know that our office is currently closed for all non-emergent dental procedures and will again contact you to reschedule your appointment once our office is allowed to reopen. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call our office. We will continue to post updated information to our page to keep you informed during this very fluid time.

COVID-19 Update: The American Dental Association and Iowa Dental Association have now advised that dental offices postpone any non-emergent or elective dental care in order to prevent the spread of this virus as well as preserve personal protective equipment for our medical colleagues. This is a nationwide recommendation.

After careful consideration, our team believes following these recommendations is in the best interest of our patients, our staff and the communities we serve. We are planning to be closed for three (3) weeks starting Wednesday, March 18, except to see emergency patients. This will be continually reassessed, and we will keep you informed throughout the process. If you have an appointment during this three week period, you can expect a call from us in the next couple of days as we update our schedule.

If you have a dental emergency and need treatment, please call our office for further instruction. Please call our office first instead of going to the emergency room to avoid unnecessary exposure and reserve their resources for patients with a medical need.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you and thank you for your understanding during these unprecedented times. We pray each of your families remain healthy and find peace to enjoy the quietness of a less busy time with your loved ones.

The health and safety of our community and our team are our top priority. With the growing concerns around the COVID-19 pandemic, we are continuing to monitor CDC and Iowa Department of Public Health recommendations while serving our community the best that we can. Please see below to know what precautions we have taken and know that these are fluid as this situation continues to unfold and recommendations evolve as we understand more.

What WE are doing:
• We are open. However, we are monitoring the temperatures and symptoms of all employees. We are also requiring our team members stay home and self-isolate if they have traveled outside of the USA in the past 14 days.
• All toys and magazines have been removed from the waiting room to avoid unnecessary spread of germs.
• We are disinfecting door handles, countertops, and other non-clinical surfaces as often as possible with medical grade disinfectant wipes and spray.
• Hand sanitizer will be readily available at check-in and throughout the office.

What we ask YOU to do:
• Please do NOT take your little ones to their appointment if you or your children are not feeling well or have a fever. If you or your children are not feeling well or have a fever, you will be required to reschedule.
• If you or your children have traveled outside of the USA in the past 14 days, you will be required to reschedule at least 14 days out from your return.
• Limit the amount of people/children that come to the appointment. We ask that you adhere by the child+one rule so that only the patient and one parent come to the appointment to limit the amount of people we have in our waiting room.

In this time of concern and unknown, we ask that you think of your neighbor above yourself and adhere by these recommendations to keep everyone as healthy as possible.

Again- we understand that these recommendations and requirements may change as this situation evolves. We will keep you up-to-date on all CDC and Iowa Department of Public Health recommendations as they become available to us.
