June E. Nylen Cancer Center

June E. Nylen Cancer Center The region's preferred choice for hope and healing. The June E. Luke’s. It was one of the first freestanding cancer centers in the Midwest.

Nylen Cancer Center (JENCC) opened its doors in 1995 as the Siouxland Regional Cancer Center, a joint venture of MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center and UnityPoint Health – St. In December 2004 the name was changed to the June E. Nylen Cancer Center following a generous gift from Mark Nylen in memory of his mother. Since opening, JENCC has led the region in comprehensive cancer care, offering medica

l oncology, radiation oncology and hematology services. Each day about 150 patients come to our facility for hope and healing. JENCC has advanced chemotherapy and radiation treatments, state-of-the-art technology, access to clinical trials and many additional best practices in patient care. We also offer a full array of beneficial support services including patient advocates who help navigate the cancer journey, nutritional care, emotional and educational resources, a complimentary wig boutique, support groups, and more. Altogether, 7 providers and a staff of more than 100 professionals work together to bring the highest quality, compassionate care to thousands in our community, including at several medical oncology and hematology satellite locations in Northwest Iowa for the convenience of patients in outlying areas.

Our team uses the latest advances in radiation therapy to treat all types of cancer. Radiation therapy uses high-energy x-rays to destroy cancer cells and shrink tumors. Radiation therapy can be used alone or with other types of cancer treatments such as chemotherapy or surgery. Some patients receive more than one type of radiation therapy.

Thank you to all the JENCC providers and staff who work with and support the SafeNet Rx Program. Last year we collected 67 individual contributions of medications.

This is an incredible program allowing sealed medications to be redistributed to patients who can't afford them while at the same time preventing these meds from being thrown into an unsafe environment. We have been a collection site for this program since 2017 and have collected hundreds of donations to the program.

Chemotherapy can be tough, but the right care makes all the difference. 💛 Our oncology nurses bring more than just medical expertise—they bring warmth, encouragement, and a smile to every treatment. Whether it’s answering questions, checking in on how you’re feeling, or just sitting with you during a tough moment, they’re here to make sure you’re cared for, heard, and supported.

Their care goes beyond the medicine, because how you’re cared for matters just as much as what you’re treated with.

Radon is a radioactive gas that is colorless and odorless. It originates in the soil from the natural decay of uranium that exists in or below most soils and enters homes through cracks, around pipes, through sump pumps and drain tiles. Iowa has the highest percentage of homes in the nation with elevated radon levels.

The only way to know if radon is in your home is to test for it and it’s recommended you test every 2 years.

Learn more about radon and how you can get a test from Siouxland District Health Department for just $8: https://www.siouxlanddistricthealth.org/services/environmental-health/healthy-homes-and-radon/radon
