During the month of February, Transitions: Doula & Life Services is partnering with other businesses to erase school lunch debt in Sioux Falls schools.

For all of the Introduction to Breastfeeding classes purchased in the month of February (for any class dates in 2023), Transitions will donate the entire class fee ($20!!!) to the fundraiser.

From The Casual Campfire Supply Co. ...

Currently in Sioux Falls, the school district is carrying a negative school lunch debt of around $110,000. Children from families that have past due account balances are currently not being provided breakfast or lunch at school. I have been told by multiple elementary and middle school teachers that if those children go through the lunch line anyway, their tray is taken away.

In Sioux Falls, 1 in 6 kids lives at risk of hunger. This means 17% of children rely heavily on school breakfast and lunch as a source of calories. You cannot learn if you are hungry.

I have started a GoFundMe through my company, The Casual Campfire Supply Co. along with the Sioux Falls chapter of the Guardians of the Children International. We are looking to make as big of a dent in this as possible. I challenge each of you to donate whatever you can so we can wipe this out.

Finally, one fundraiser changes the situation one time. This has been happening for decades, and must stop. A sustainable solution that guarantees our children are provided much needed nutrition at school is absolutely essential for development of young learners and contributing members of society.

This is not just a problem in Sioux Falls - Every SD community struggles with childhood hunger to some degree. As South Dakotans, let's fix the current issue, and work together on solving the problem for our kids and their kids to come.

My friend Renee is offering an awesome Intro to Breastfeeding class starting in January! It is virtual so you don't have to bundle up and brave the weather.
Renee is super knowledgeable and pours love into everything she does! Such a great opportunity for new and expecting parents! 🖤

Have you heard?! We now offer an Introduction to Breastfeeding Class... and it's VIRTUAL!

Renee Forred brings her knowledge and skills as a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) directly into your living room in this live, virtual class.

Students will learn about the physiology of lactation, learn what to expect in the first hours/days/weeks/months of breastfeeding, and the answers to the most often asked breastfeeding questions. This class will give parents preparing to breastfeed the confidence and knowledge to start off on the right foot.

Classes are taught via Zoom at 7pm on the first Tuesday of the month. Students will receive a link to the Zoom meeting upon registration.

Transitions doula clients receive this class as part of their birth or postpartum package!
