Thermography
Here's the break down
▪ Looks for vascular (blood vessel) and heat patterns NOT densities
▪ 90% sensitivity rate regardles of density of breasts
▪ Non-invasive having no detriment to the body, using no radiation, compression, or dyes
▪ 90% of breast cancerns have an associated heat or vascular patterning
▪ Can aid in the detection of excess hormones in the breast tissue
▪ CanNOT see lymphatic tissues/ blockages
▪ FDA 510(k) cleared as an adjunctive screening tool since 1982
▪ Interpreted by a board certified thermologist who has had years of trainng in reading thermographic imaging
▪Mandatory pre-exam prep and pre-imaging acclimation are REQUIRED

Breast MRI - Let's break it down
▪ Uses magnetic fields and radio waves to create a very detailed image of the breasts
▪ 90%+ sensitivity for detecting lesions - although it detects both cancerous and benign lesions--possibly leading to unnecessary procedures
▪ Contrast dye used via IV called Gadolinium (research this to be informed!)
▪ Claustrophobic or mobility impaired patients may find this exam difficult
▪ Should be used as an adjunctive screening
▪ Can be difficult to obtain due to limitations of facilities
▪ Interpreted by a board certified radiologist
▪ Can be very costly depending on insurance
