👁️ Meet Dr. Karen E. Dickes, DO

Dr. Dickes provides comprehensive ophthalmic care with a special interest in cataract surgery and minimally invasive glaucoma surgery. As a board-certified ophthalmologist, she is passionate about improving patients’ vision, comfort, and overall quality of life.

She earned her medical degree from Des Moines University Osteopathic Medical School, completed her residency at Grandview Hospital in Dayton, OH, and went on to complete a Glaucoma Fellowship in Omaha, NE.

We’re proud to have Dr. Dickes on our Ophthalmology LTD team — delivering skilled care and genuine compassion to our community every day. 💙

Not everyone is a candidate for LASIK, and that’s okay! 😊

Many factors go into determining if LASIK is right for you, including your prescription, corneal thickness, eye health, and lifestyle. However, being ineligible for LASIK doesn’t mean vision correction isn’t possible. Here are some alternative solutions that could be right for you!

👓 Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK) – Similar to LASIK but better for thinner corneas.
👁️ Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) – Ideal for those with presbyopia or high prescriptions.
🔬 Implantable Contact Lenses (ICL) – Great for extreme nearsightedness.

We had so much fun attending the SDOS conference last week! 👁️

Connecting with attendees at our booth throughout the two-day event was a highlight, along with supporting the exchange of knowledge within the eye care community. Dr. Bordewyk presented on refractive surgery, and incoming physician Dr. Bleeker shared insights on diseases in neuro-ophthalmology.

It's always a great opportunity to connect, learn, and be part of advancing eye care. 💙
