⭐ Meet Our Board of Directors | Amy Newstrom, DNP, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC, LP-C, QMHP and President of NPASD ⭐

Dr. Amy Newstrom brings extensive experience in mental healthcare and education, working in clinics, inpatient and outpatient settings, and even Pennington County Jail. She is a licensed counselor and board-certified family and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, and she teaches in the Graduate Nursing Program at South Dakota State University. In 2019, she was honored with the State Excellence in Nursing Award.

Amy’s go-to drink is iced green tea, and she enjoys reading The Hunger Games series and sharing it with her daughter. She also loves hiking and is always up for a chance to get back in the water for a surfing lesson. Her favorite part of serving on the NPASD board is collaborating with colleagues to advance nurse practitioners’ rights and practice. Thank you, Amy, for being our president. We are so lucky to have you!
